Summary

The Data Analyst’s role is to analyze, specify and validate the business needs of the organizations. In this role, the Data Analyst will play a key part in the design, development, and launch efficient business, financial, and operations systems in support of core organizational functions and business processes. This includes gathering and analyzing data in support of business cases, proposed projects, and systems requirements. The Data Analyst is also responsible for supporting the development process, and ensuring that project deliverables are met according to specifications. This individual will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help maximize the benefit of IT system investments.

Essential Functions

  • with executive leadership, decision makers, business owners, technical owners, and end users to define business, financial, and operations requirements and systems goals
  • with project managers and project sponsors to determine project scope and vision
  • project stakeholders and establish roles and responsibilities (process owners, change champions, etc.)
  • interviews and data analysis to document requirements via workshops, questionnaires, surveys, site visits, workflow storyboards, use cases, scenarios, and other methods
  • and utilizes standard templates to accurately and concisely write requirement specifications
  • and verifies requirements for completeness, consistency, comprehensibility, feasibility, and conformity to standards
  • and establishes scope and parameters of requirements analysis in order to define impact, outcome criteria, and measure-taking actions
  • interprets, and performs analysis across large data sets and relational databases
  • conceptual user requirements into data transformation or reporting requirements in a clear manner that is comprehensible to developers/project team
  • quality assurance of imported data, working with developers and DBA’s as needed
  • reports to support data integrity and normalization
  • changes and updates to source system and their impacts to existing data framework
  • and establishes scope and parameters of requirements analysis in order to define impact, outcome criteria, and measure-taking actions
  • with stakeholders and project team to prioritize collected requirements
  • process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to developers and/or the project team
  • and conducts peer reviews to ensure that requirement specifications are correctly interpreted
  • and tracks the status of requirements throughout the project lifecycle; enforce and redefine as necessary
  • changes, enhancements, and modifications – verbally or through written documentation project managers, sponsors, and other stakeholders so that issues and solutions are understood
  • reviews, and analyzes the effectiveness and efficiency of existing requirements-gathering processes and develop strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes
  • in conducting research on software and hardware products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts
  • practices and procedures that work towards the continuous improvement of the requirements process
  • guidance and/or instruction to junior staff members

Required Qualifications

  • diploma or university degree in software engineering, computer science, or business administration or equivalent work experience
  • or more years as a data analyst (Proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis, elicitation, modeling, verification, and methodology development)
  • SQL Experience
  • Excel skills
  • with Data Mapping
  • with Data Modeling
  • with large scale data migrations
  • with sourcing data from Data Warehouse and data mining
  • to create systematic and consistent requirements specifications in both technical and user-friendly language
  • data analysis, data verification, and problem-solving abilities
  • PC skills and technical fluency
  • with software and database development and network architecture
  • with formal project management methodologies
  • attention to detail

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

  • with core software applications, including MS CRM, Sharepoint, MS GP, SQL Server 2005 and above
  • writing and managing QlikView reports
  • writing and managing SSRS reports
  • importing data for use in report software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flow charts
  • written and oral communication skills
  • listening, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
  • to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • to be self-motivating and work independently
  • working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
