Roles & Responsibilities
● On-site Support: Travel to customer sites to perform installations, repairs, and maintenance tasks on data center equipment and infrastructure. This may include servers, storage systems, networking devices, and power distribution units (PDUs).
● Equipment Installation: Assist with the installation, rack-mounting, and cabling of hardware components in data center cabinets and racks. Ensure that installations comply with industry standards and best practices.
● Hardware Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware issues, such as component failures or connectivity problems. Use diagnostic tools and techniques to identify root causes and implement solutions.
● Cable Management: Ensure proper cable management and labeling during installations and maintenance activities. Organize cables to minimize clutter and maintain airflow within data center cabinets and racks.
● Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as inspection, and testing of data center equipment. Proactively identify potential issues and address them before they escalate into problems.
● Documentation: Maintain accurate records of field activities, including equipment installations, repairs, and maintenance tasks. Update documentation in a timely manner to reflect changes to the data center environment.
● Customer Communication: Interact with customers in a professional and courteous manner. Provide status updates, technical assistance, and recommendations as needed to ensure customer satisfaction.
Requirements Skills & Experience
● Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with 2-3 years of experience
● Prior experience working as a field technician or in a similar role is highly desirable.
● Familiarity with data center hardware and infrastructure, including servers, networking equipment, and power systems.
● Basic understanding of networking concepts and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, VLANs, subnetting).
● Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues independently.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Willingness to travel to customer sites and work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
● Physical ability to lift and move heavy equipment and perform tasks in a data center environment.
