As an Engineering Manager, you'll be leading a small, close-knit team of developers working closely with the dealing desk to deliver a green field project built on Linux server software for our high throughput market-making systems. What you will do:

You will be a strong collaborator and possess the ability to work with other Engineering Managers and their teams with Core Tech and wider functions.

Work with product and engineering partners to drive key decisions.

Own features and solutions along with modernization plans for the tech stack you are responsible for.

Provide oversight of design and code quality.

Ensure your team meets IG’s software quality standards and adopts engineering best practices.

Recruit and onboard new team members efficiently.

Line Management of your engineers and QA and coach them in their personal development goals.

Drive adoption of our Agile development life cycle.

Excellent track record for delivery.

What you will need:

As one of our Engineering Managers, you’ll be leading a team of C++ Engineers. Coaching and mentoring them on technical and ways-of-working subjects, whilst also taking a hands-on role with system development.

A firm understanding of Agile and a desire to push improvements

Experience and proficiency in design at system and component levels

Considerable C++ development experience in real-time multi-threaded systems

Experience leading and inspiring technology teams with a passion for great team culture

Ability and desire to learn business domain.

Practised user of LINUX command line and scripting

Ability to own and deal with production systems and related issues.

Excellent communication skills - adept with the right communication skills for the right audience
