Role & responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Senior Merchandiser will be responsible for managing the entire merchandising process from product development to order execution. This role requires strong coordination with buyers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure timely delivery, quality assurance, and cost-effective production. The position demands leadership skills to guide junior merchandisers and the ability to handle multiple accounts efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end merchandising activities for assigned buyers/accounts.
  • Coordinate with buyers for product development, costing, and approvals.
  • Source and negotiate with vendors/suppliers to achieve quality and price targets.
  • Prepare and monitor production schedules to ensure timely delivery.
  • Review samples, trims, and fabrics for compliance with buyer requirements.
  • Follow up with suppliers for approvals, shipment schedules, and order execution.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, testing, and buyer requirements.
  • Monitor WIP (Work in Progress) and resolve production-related issues.
  • Maintain and update order status reports and share with management/buyers.
  • Train, guide, and supervise junior merchandisers to improve efficiency.
  • Coordinate with logistics for timely shipment and documentation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with buyers and vendors.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Bachelors degree in Textile/Fashion/Business or related field.
  • 5–8 years of experience in merchandising, preferably in textile/garment exports.
  • Proven track record of managing buyers and handling large orders independently.
  • Strong knowledge of textiles, garments, and export merchandising.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple buyers/orders simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
