The purpose of the position is to set the strategy for- and lead delivery of Finance operations through the establishment of a virtual centralized FSS in India. This is a large transformation with major impact across the organization. The virtual FSS will manage delivery of transactional finance as well as selected knowledge-centric services. FSS is expected to cater to India operations and finance business requirements.


The Head of FSS builds and leads the centers and delivery of core finance operational processes, master data management, support other regular asks from Local Organization. The head defines and drives the strategy, leads the Finance Operations management team and is a member of the Finance leadership team. The role is of critical importance in transforming the delivery of Finance services in Bata. Role of Virtual FSS is critical to ensuring effective finance business partnering.


The position requires a senior finance professional experienced in leadership positions in Shared Service like organizations showing a combination of strong operational finance understanding, transformational experience and interpersonal; leadership skills that can strategically establish and drive the FSS.


The key desired outcomes for this role are:

  • Deliver clear strategy for FSS including establishment of a cost effective, sustainable, and scalable organization.
  • Drives recruitment and onboarding of new organization.
  • Ensures successful transition of existing Bata Finance processes into FSS.
  • Leads the team and takes accountability for managing overall FSS operations.
  • Establishes a center that in the steady state delivers end-to-end standardized, documented, efficient and automated processes in the finance operational area and beyond. Always seeking to utilize and/or build a modern finance technology landscape


Strategic

  • Delivery of transformation program milestones (set up of centralized virtual FSS being the first one).
  • Build a strong and efficient team to provide robust business support for current operations and future scale up.
  • Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders - Finance Leadership, Business stakeholders, transformation office, Auditors etc.
  • Be the 'conscience keeper' of the company setting high ethical and integrity practices and standards and ensuring risk management within the risk management framework.
  • Review and monitor FSS’s processes to identify trends and problem areas, reporting on risks, key performance indicators and proposed corrective action or new approaches.
  • Drive the implementation and embedding of the process improvements and efficiencies within the organization.
  • Deal effectively with any technical issues that may arise out of changes in business models, new businesses etc.
  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with Global Finance, Business Finance and FP&A, liaise on issues in the implementation of established policies and escalate to policy owners any issue requiring policy related decisions.
  • Scale FSS’s presence and establish utmost trust in FSS’s delivery.
  • Challenge business stakeholders when needed

Operational

  • Overseeing the establishment and execution of operational processes
  • Ensure the hygiene of accounts, clean balance sheet on an ongoing basis, and safeguard against misappropriation of company assets
  • Devise proper measures for asset management and protecting the company assets
  • Ensure effective delivery of agreed KPIs, SLAs and support effective resolution of issues
  • Ensure effective and efficient implementation of internal controls of the company
  • Maintain strong professional relationship with statutory & internal auditors and proactively partner on accounts closing, reporting and audit matters

Leadership and Development

  • Lead the FinOps team conducting transition activities to the extent required to support the transition of the processes from the selected markets and regions to the FSS.
  • Full transparency across the end-to-end value chain with performance metrics in place to highlight improvement areas and put metrics in place for continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring a good service and performance culture focused on a ‘partnership and customer centric’ approach.
  • Execute on activities to boost the FSS’s branding image both to advertise services internally as well as to create an employer brand for talent attraction.
  • Ability to maintain good relations with external parties/outsourced parties to ensure smooth and well-integrated functioning of various parts of the FSS.
  • Ensure effective people management and development of the team, including staffing & selection of senior management, building a strong team culture.
