About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and versatile Content Head to lead content strategy and execution for our news-based app and website. The ideal candidate will be responsible for crafting, curating, and managing content that bridges the domains of news, politics, and public policy. This is a leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has a knack for storytelling, and understands the nuances of creating impactful content that resonates with diverse audiences.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation and Management :
Write and edit high-quality articles, blogs, and opinion pieces on news, politics, and government policies.
Develop in-depth research on public policy and governance.
Create and manage a comprehensive data bank of government policies and their impacts, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
Create website content, and social media-friendly policy communication adaptable in different formats.
Content Strategy :
Develop and execute a content strategy that aligns with the platform’s mission to provide insightful and engaging content.
Ensure content is timely, relevant, and resonates with audiences across various demographics.
Analytical and Creative Balance :
Combine analytical insights with creative storytelling to deliver content that is both informative and engaging.
Identify trends in politics, governance, and society to craft unique narratives that drive meaningful conversations.
Team Leadership :
Lead and mentor a team of writers, editors, and content creators to maintain high editorial standards.
Collaborate with designers, video editors, and social media teams to create multimedia content.
News and Policy Monitoring :
Stay updated with current events, political developments, and government policies to ensure content remains relevant.
Platform Optimization :
Work closely with tech and marketing teams to optimize content for SEO, app engagement, and audience retention.
Analyze content performance metrics to refine strategy and improve reach and impact.
Qualifications and Skills
Educational Background : Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Journalism, Political Science, Public Policy, Communications, or a related field.
Experience : Minimum 7-10 years in content creation, editing, or journalism, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Writing and Research : Exceptional writing, editing, and research skills with a strong portfolio of published work in news, politics, or policy.
Analytical Mindset : Ability to analyze complex information and present it in an accessible format.
Passion for Policy and Politics : A deep interest in governance, political systems, and the intersection of policy and public discourse.
Tech-savvy : Proficiency in content management systems (CMS), analytics tools, and SEO best practices.
Leadership : Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
