About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and versatile Content Head to lead content strategy and execution for our news-based app and website. The ideal candidate will be responsible for crafting, curating, and managing content that bridges the domains of news, politics, and public policy. This is a leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has a knack for storytelling, and understands the nuances of creating impactful content that resonates with diverse audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Content Creation and Management :
- Write and edit high-quality articles, blogs, and opinion pieces on news, politics, and government policies.
- Develop in-depth research on public policy and governance.
- Create and manage a comprehensive data bank of government policies and their impacts, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
- Create website content, and social media-friendly policy communication adaptable in different formats.
- Content Strategy :
- Develop and execute a content strategy that aligns with the platform’s mission to provide insightful and engaging content.
- Ensure content is timely, relevant, and resonates with audiences across various demographics.
- Analytical and Creative Balance :
- Combine analytical insights with creative storytelling to deliver content that is both informative and engaging.
- Identify trends in politics, governance, and society to craft unique narratives that drive meaningful conversations.
- Team Leadership :
- Lead and mentor a team of writers, editors, and content creators to maintain high editorial standards.
- Collaborate with designers, video editors, and social media teams to create multimedia content.
- News and Policy Monitoring :
- Stay updated with current events, political developments, and government policies to ensure content remains relevant.
- Platform Optimization :
- Work closely with tech and marketing teams to optimize content for SEO, app engagement, and audience retention.
- Analyze content performance metrics to refine strategy and improve reach and impact.
Qualifications and Skills
- Educational Background : Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Journalism, Political Science, Public Policy, Communications, or a related field.
- Experience : Minimum 7-10 years in content creation, editing, or journalism, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Writing and Research : Exceptional writing, editing, and research skills with a strong portfolio of published work in news, politics, or policy.
- Analytical Mindset : Ability to analyze complex information and present it in an accessible format.
- Passion for Policy and Politics : A deep interest in governance, political systems, and the intersection of policy and public discourse.
- Tech-savvy : Proficiency in content management systems (CMS), analytics tools, and SEO best practices.
- Leadership : Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
