Job Overview

Client of Genome Quest is looking for a Credit Officer with specialization in Cross-Border Factoring and Import Finance for Mumbai Location. If you are specialize in factoring cross-border invoices and providing short-term import finance, post securing RBI license, you can apply for this job. It will cater primarily to MSME exporters and importers, offering them tailored financial solutions to enhance their working capital. The focus will be on mitigating risks associated with cross-border transactions and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, while also supporting the import financing needs of our clients.


Job Summary

The Credit Officer will be responsible for assessing and managing the credit risk of clients, particularly MSME exporters and importers. The role requires a deep understanding of the Indian MSME market, regulatory requirements, and the intricacies of cross-border factoring, domestic supply chains, and import financing. The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of experience in credit risk assessment, with expertise in handling the challenges specific to MSME exporters and importers, understanding the capital implications of the credit portfolio, and familiarity with digital underwriting norms and the use of alternative data.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and evaluate the creditworthiness of MSME exporters and importers applying for factoring and short-term import finance services.
  • Analyze financial statements, business performance, and market conditions to determine risk levels.
  • Monitor client compliance with business contracts and identify potential fraudulent transactions.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential losses.
  • Stay updated on RBI and other regulatory requirements affecting NBFCs, particularly those
  • related to Non-Performing Assets (NPA).
  • Utilize alternative data sources and digital tools for underwriting and assessing credit risk.
  • Implement and manage digital underwriting norms to streamline the credit evaluation process.
  • Liaise with clients to gather necessary documentation and information for credit assessment.
  • Prepare detailed credit assessment reports and present findings to senior management.
  • Collaborate with the legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Monitor the financial health of existing clients and recommend actions for managing credit exposure.
  • Understand the implications of the credit portfolio on the company's capital requirements and financial health.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior credit analysts and other team members.


Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 7-10 years of experience in credit risk assessment, preferably within the NBFC or banking sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Indian MSME market, cross-border factoring, domestic supply chains, and import finance.
  • Familiarity with RBI regulations and compliance requirements for NBFCs, including those concerning NPAs.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Experience in using digital tools and alternative data for credit risk assessment.
  • Knowledge of digital underwriting norms and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis software and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, or equivalent are an advantage.
