What this job entails: As a leader in the space of Data Science, you will lead a team of highly qualified professionals, within the context of a functional unit, with expertise in areas of Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence. Your team will comprise of Data Scientists. Your primary responsibility will be to strategize and guide the application of data sciences, and leverage data capabilities to drive Flipkart’s Business Value Proposition. In simpler terms, you will help build intelligence across Flipkart products. In this role, you will: Closely work with the Data Science team to formulate data-led solutions and models Use advanced Machine Learning techniques to enable key business goals Be a strong proponent of the customer and the business, with the capability to drive efficiency and productivity, and enable automation across the spectrum Should have thorough understanding of key AI and ML techniques — If not all — spanning Predictive Modelling, NLP, Text Mining, Classification, Regression, Deep Learning, etc. Key Roles & Responsibilities: The Flipkart Data Science team applies capabilities across numerous business problem statements within the e-commerce ecosystem. The application extends across Customer Experience, Supply-Chain, Engineering, Cataloguing and other critical scenarios, with solutions designed around discovery, personalization, intent modelling, demand shaping and planning, insights, sentiment prediction, response matching, fulfilment automation, last-mile optimization, fraud modelling and search—all of which just form the tip of the iceberg. In this role, you will be responsible to: Help the Data Science team of the functional unit to formulate and architect future AI / ML models for Flipkart Products Guide teams through decisions around applying Data Science and Data Modelling techniques to drive innovation, efficiency productivity and automation within Flipkart’s ecosystem Ensure timely deployment of models in a high-pace business, large-scale production environment Coach the Data Science team on various challenges and trade-offs in developing models that can accurately employ real data Build deep partnerships with business, product management, and technology leaders Lead, hire, manage and mentor a team of highly qualified Data Scientist, Data Engineers, Software Engineers ML and Research Scientists Help develop systems-driven framework for tracking the quality, consistency, applicability and performance of data inputs and outcomes Build and leverage tools that allow for democratization and easy consumption and analysis of data across the organization. Our Associations & Collaborations: Associations and collaborations: The Flipkart Data Science team is also leveraging partnerships with Indian and foreign universities — like CMU, IIT's, IISc and IIIT’s — for developing class-leading solutions in the e-commerce sector. At Flipkart, the work of a Data Scientist involves collaboration with the engineering and product teams to ensure a holistic outcome at the product delivery. The flat functional structure within Flipkart engineering enables data scientists to focus on excellence and create a deep sense of ownership at every stage of work. Basic Qualification: Education Qualification: B.Tech / M.Tech in CS/ML/AI Statistics with demonstrable experience through publications / deployed solutions / projects. Should have formally managed small/large teams of DS, data Engineers with DS capabilities for at least 2-4 Yrs. Strong technical skills in machine learning/AI, including optimization, simulation, regression techniques, neural networks, decision trees, cluster analysis, pattern recognition, probability theory, stochastic systems, Bayesian inference, and statistical techniques.
