We have immediate hiring for Mainframe Support Engineer (Command Center) for Synechron India locations.


Job Role: Mainframe Support Engineer (Command Center)

Job Location: Pune /Mumbai / Bangalore / Hyderabad / Chennai

Experience: 5+ years’ experience

Notice Period: Immediate to 30 days

Shift Schedule: 5:30 PM- 5:30 AM (IST) Sunday, Monday, Tues, every other SAT OR

5:30 AM – 5:30 PM (IST) Thursday, Friday, Saturday, every other Wednesday

Job Description :


Responsibilities include supporting Mainframe components and software, installing, testing, maintenance and documentation on mainframe zOS systems in a sysplex environment along with projects as required. In addition, support of the Control-D output management system.


What You Will Do:

• Primary support coverage will be US business hours 08:00-16:30 central time zone

• Secondary support non-prime business hours, including weekends. (oncall rotation)

• Daily support of the mainframe components and software to ensure the overall health of mainframe environment.

• Moderate problem resolution – resolving problems to final resolution with root cause.

• Moderate understanding of the BMC Control-D output management environment including the mission and decollation process, report definition screens as well as the Web Access Interface.

• Ability to work with our vendors to trouble shoot problems and fixes as well as the ability to provide and identify diagnostics needed for root cause.

• Proactive daily monitoring of key mainframe system metric to identify improvement opportunities.

• Problem prevention – reviewing system and software information on a regular basis in addition to reviewing vendor detail for potential system bugs and maintenance that need to be applied.

• On-call support and fulfilling support requests/questions from customers.

• Supporting disaster recovery testing exercises.

• Project work both internal GTS and Business Unit driven.

• Installing third-party mainframe software and software fixes.

• Design and adaptation of platforms to meet client business requirements.

• Continuously making improvements to deliver best-in-class service availability and cost.


What You Will Need:


Qualifications

• Moderate knowledge of z architecture mainframe systems is required for a candidate to

be considered for this role.

• Behavioural skills and technical skills present.

• Moderate understanding of system concepts of IT Infrastructure environments.

• Moderate understanding of z architecture hardware.

• Moderate working ability to a programming language, i.e. Assembler, COBOL, REXX, SAS.

• Moderate knowledge of JCL, TSO/ISPF and SDSF concepts and functionality.

• Moderate knowledge of BMC Control-D output management infrastructure and components.

• Understands and practices documented testing and implementation procedures.

• Knowledge of Disaster Recovery concepts.

• Strong skills in both verbal and written communication.

• Strong analytical thinking.

• Attention to Detail: Applying relevant quality standards to most tasks undertaken.

• Capable of working in a highly-collaborative working environment with colleagues and

customers from different cultural backgrounds.

• Complies with information security policies qualifications here

• 4-7 years of experience in a mainframe support role is required.
