This role is for a motivated Design Automation Engineer with 3-5 years of experience to contribute to the development and implementation of efficient design flows utilizing a specific Process Design Kit (PDK). You will play a critical role in automating repetitive design tasks, ensuring efficient chip design and verification within the established PDK guidelines.

Location - Bangalore / Hubli

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement scripts and automation tools utilizing scripting languages (e.g., Python, TCL) to automate repetitive design tasks within the established PDK.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to understand their needs and translate them into efficient and robust automation solutions.
  • Integrate automation tools with Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools (e.g., place and route tools, static timing analysis tools) to create seamless design flows.
  • Develop and maintain testbenches and regression suites to verify the functionality and performance of the automated design flows.
  • Analyze and debug automation scripts, identifying and resolving errors to ensure smooth operation of the design flow.
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in design automation methodologies and scripting languages.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the PDK, including its design rules, layout constraints, and device models.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the PDK library within the organization.
  • Document automation tools, scripts, and design flows for future reference and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in design automation or a related field.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, TCL) for automating design tasks.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools (experience with specific tools may vary depending on the company and PDK).
  • Understanding of basic digital design concepts and verification methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues with automation scripts.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with design engineers and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to learn new tools and technologies quickly.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with a specific Process Design Kit (PDK) used in your field (details about the specific PDK will vary depending on the company).
  • Knowledge of hardware description languages (HDLs) like Verilog or VHDL (a plus).
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks for design verification.
  • Experience with continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) methodologies (a plus).
