Senior Manager – Instructional Design

What You Will Do
As an L&D functional leader and people manager at Johnson Controls, the Instructional Design Manager (IDM) is responsible for leading the Instructional Design tower of the India L&D team. As an IDM, you will be responsible for coaching and mentoring the Instructional Designers (IDs), providing leadership in Instructional Design utilization and capabilities, while developing innovative, engaging, and learner-focused solutions.
You are expected to empower the ID team to drive and design effective learning solutions, in collaboration with global teams, Learning Experience Designers (LXDs), L&D Managers, project management teams, other IDs, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and cross-functional development teams.
You will work closely with global L&D teams, business units, and leaders. To be successful in this role, you will need to understand the business goals, collaborate with stakeholders, ask the right questions, and build strong relationships. The IDM is expected to be dependable and trusted by the business partners across Johnson Controls.
How You Will Do It
Manage Instructional Design allocation on projects and monitor scheduling and utilization. Ensure the team adheres to committed timelines, processes, quality, and timely data reporting. Assign and drive development goals of IDs and be responsible for their performance. Coach/guide the IDs on learning solutions, skills, competencies, business acumen, and subject matter. Manage stakeholder relationships through proactive and professional communication skills. Collaborate effectively within the internal team, to help them understand the business needs, learning objectives, and effective Instructional Design strategies. Drive a culture of innovation, peer collaboration, and mentoring within the L&D team for skill development and professional growth. Ensure teams follow the organization’s established process, policies, and procedures. Responsible for a holistic understanding of the entire portfolio of requests coming to the India L&D team. Foresee risks, have a mitigation strategy, and work with the team to mitigate the risks. Demonstrate strong analytical skills to diagnose situational problems accurately and collaborate with leaders and teams to resolve challenges. Represent the India L&D team in the global forum to demonstrate the capabilities of the team and lead impactful initiatives. Provide support to create reports to represent the success story of the team to help the leaders formulate the business impacts.What We Look For
Qualification and Experience
Graduate or PG from a recognized university Preferable certificate course relevant to Instructional Design/Mass Communication 10-15 years of experience in Instructional Design, and global client/stakeholder management, preferably in large MNCs, and strong experience in the learning industry At least 5-10 years of experience in people managementSkills & Competencies
Strong leadership competencies demonstrating team building, coaching, delegation, customer orientation, innovation, business acumen, decision-making, influencing with impact, building partnerships, problem-solving, reporting, and so on Proficient in Instructional Design principles, methodologies, best practices, and current/future-focused trends Excellent communication and articulation skills-
