Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (Shopfloor/Assembly Line)

About the Role

Own machine reliability and uptime on the shopfloor. Plan and execute PM/CBM/TBM, drive breakdown reduction, manage spares (minmax), ensure EHS compliance, and lead continuous improvement (Kaizen/TPM) to improve availability, quality, and cost.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule PM, CBM, TBM; ensure 100% PM compliance.
• Achieve uptime/availability targets; track and improve MTTR/MTBF and support OEE improvement.
• Lead breakdown analysis (RCA/5-Why/Fishbone/8D); implement CAPA and verify effectiveness.
• Execute setup time reduction (SMED) and Kaizen for throughput/quality.
• Maintain machines in basic condition (cleaning, lubrication, tightening, alignment, calibration).
• Spares/MRO management: minmax planning, PR creation, SAP PM/MM transactions, RGP handling; vendor follow-ups.
• Ensure safe work practices (LOTO, work permits, JSA, ISO 45001/14001 requirements) for technicians and operators.
• Coordinate maintenance fitters/contractors; allocate work, supervise execution, and certify job completion.
• Address quality concerns immediately with production/QA; prevent recurrence.
• Maintain daily logbooks/MIS, breakdown reports, and cost dashboards; present to management.
• Drive R&M cost-reduction projects and energy/utilities optimization.
• Monitor critical equipment health (vibration, temperature, lubrication, hydraulics, pneumatics).
• Train and upskill maintenance technicians; maintain skill matrices.
• Support shutdown/turnaround planning and execution.
• Adhere to EHS manualOrganisation Roles & Responsibilities (Clause 5.3) and company policies.

Authority & Decision Rights

• Approve actions to meet machine uptime targets.
• Decide critical spare min–max levels and replenishment.
• Enforce safe & healthy shopfloor environment and stop unsafe work.
