A JD Edwards (JDE) Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne applications and databases. The DBA ensures the availability, reliability, and scalability of JD Edwards systems, providing technical support and resolving any issues related to the database environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Installation and Configuration:

  • Install and configure JD Edwards EnterpriseOne applications and databases.
  • Set up and manage application environments, including development, testing, and production.
  • Ensure proper integration with other enterprise systems.

Database Management:

  • Monitor and maintain the health and performance of JD Edwards databases.
  • Perform regular database maintenance tasks such as backups, restores, and data archiving.
  • Implement and maintain database security policies and procedures.

Performance Tuning:

  • Analyze and resolve performance issues related to the JD Edwards application and database.
  • Optimize database performance through indexing, query optimization, and system parameter tuning.
  • Conduct regular performance testing and monitoring.

Upgrades and Patches:

  • Plan and execute upgrades and patches for JD Edwards applications and databases.
  • Ensure minimal downtime and disruption to business operations during upgrades.
  • Test and validate system changes in a controlled environment before deployment.

Support and Troubleshooting:

  • Provide technical support to users and resolve database-related issues.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to diagnose and troubleshoot system problems.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of issues, resolutions, and procedures.

Disaster Recovery and High Availability:

  • Develop and implement disaster recovery plans for JD Edwards systems.
  • Ensure high availability of the JD Edwards environment through redundancy and failover mechanisms.
  • Regularly test disaster recovery procedures.

Compliance and Security:

  • Ensure JD Edwards databases comply with corporate security policies and industry regulations.
  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
  • Implement security measures such as encryption and access controls.

Training and Development:

  • Stay current with the latest JD Edwards technologies and best practices.
  • Provide training and support to junior DBAs and other IT staff.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and industry conferences.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne applications and Oracle databases.
  • Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and database performance tuning.
  • Knowledge of operating systems such as Windows and UNIX/Linux.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Experience with cloud-based JD Edwards deployments (desirable).
