Flipkart is a part of the Walmart-owned Flipkart Group, which also includes group companies Flipkart Health+, Myntra, ANS commerce and Cleartrip. Currently in the process of building our teams, we require a seasoned Senior Director of Engineering with a background in Product Engineering and a well rounded experience across various areas of design and architecture, technology roadmaps, technical mentoring, product delivery and more. The ideal candidate will have roughly 18 to 25 years of relevant industry experience and a strong technology, business acumen coupled with excellent people management skills.



What you will be doing

• Provide technical leadership to major projects and guide Directors, Engineering managers/Architects along with their teams of 150-200 top notch engineers

• Chalk-out and implement the vision, technology roadmap and business goals

• Enable team contribution towards product strategies

• Create clear career paths for team members and ensure their growth by mentoring them • Evaluate performances regularly and share and seek feedback

• Operate with scale and speed, amidst flux in the fast-paced environment • Work closely with Engineering Leaders, Managers; Product Management, Business Development and Operation teams, and enable them by providing scalable and high quality technology solutions at a rapid pace • Set up best practices for development and overlook its adoption

• Architect and design technically robust, flexible and scalable solutions •


What you should have

• Experience in building new category and products from 0 to 1.

• Excellent leadership skills to manage and mentor teams

• The ability to balance business needs, a sense of urgency, conflicting constraints, and

shipping high quality products in a fast-moving environment.

• Strong track record of building stellar teams and contributing to their career growth

• Experience in managing cross functional teams

• A deep understanding of technologies and architecture in a highly scalable and available set-up

• Expertise in highly transactional, large relational and complex systems

• Strong object oriented design skills, and an uncanny ability to design intuitive modules and class-level interfaces

• Superior management skills to manage multi-engineer projects and deliver high quality projects on time

•Strong technical and product competence with a track record of individual technical accomplishments.

• Preferably looking for applicants from B2C/Internet and Ecommerce background.
