Job Description:
Gartner is seeking a skilled and experienced Director, Analyst to provide thought leadership and actionable advice to our clients. In this role, you will be instrumental in publishing insightful research notes and engaging with clients on topics related to Platform Engineering (PE), Site Reliability Engineering, and modernizing infrastructure operations. This position requires a strong understanding of modern PE principles, infrastructure-as-code, infrastructure automation practices, and a passion for streamlining developer infrastructure and operations practices. The Director will create compelling research, engage with clients, and contribute to Gartner's reputation as a leading research and advisory company.

What you will do:

• Collaboratively write and publish analysis and positions at a regular cadence through evidence-based research.
• Conduct in-depth compelling research and publish authoritative reports on topics including infrastructure automation, infrastructure-as-code, and the adoption of platform engineering practices to promote standardization.
• Provide professional representation of Gartner's brand, research, insights, and analysis to technical teams in Gartner's client base.
• Provide clients and prospects with actionable advice aligned to their designated content area via virtual or face-to-face interactions.
• Apply personal experience and technical expertise to an array of clients, situations, and industries.
• Work with Gartner Sales executives to attract, engage and retain Gartner customers.
• Proactively contribute to thought leadership and research communities.

What you will need:

• 10-15 years of experience in IT, with a focus on cloud computing and strategy.
• Proven experience in a research or analyst role with a focus on infrastructure automation, Platform Engineering, SRE or related domains.
• Strong understanding of DevOps principles, methodologies, and best practices.
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, VMware Cloud Foundation Automation or Ansible and Infrastructure Pipelines
• Experience with designing and implementing Continuous integration/Continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud-native technologies would be a plusExperience in building and delivering a modern operations function (cloud platform engineering, site reliability engineering, or similar model)
• Experience working in agile, DevOps environments.
• Strong written and verbal proficiency, analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions.
• Ability to work independently, while also being intrinsically motivated to collaborate across teams and support the workflow of others in a multicultural global team.
• Strong organizational skills: ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high quality deliverables.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Graduate degree preferred.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with automation platforms such as Terraform Cloud, RedHat Automation Platform, Space lift, or related products would be a plus.
• Experience with automation for containers and Kubernetes (e.g., GitOps, ClusterAPI, etc.) and IaC initiatives like Crossplane and KRO would be a plus.
• Familiarity with automation in on-premises scenarios, including bare-metal.
• Understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, practices, and models.
• Familiarity with security best practices in cloud and platform environments.
• Knowledge of service mesh technologies and their applications.
• Ability to adopt product management practices for platform development.
