GIS Developer

Job Description We are looking for a highly skilled GIS Developer to design, develop, and implement geospatial solutions and mapping applications for enterprise projects. The role involves building scalable GIS systems, integrating spatial data with business applications, and supporting advanced analytics and visualization requirements. The GIS Developer Expert will work closely with Solution Architects, Data Engineers, and Development Teams to deliver high-performance GIS applications. Candidates should possess deep expertise in Esri ArcGIS platform, Web GIS development, spatial databases, and geoprocessing tools. Key Roles and Responsibilities Design, develop, and deploy web-based GIS applications and spatial data services for enterprise projects. Build interactive map visualizations, dashboards, and geospatial analysis tools for various business functions. Integrate GIS data and services with custom applications, APIs, and databases. Develop and maintain geoprocessing scripts, data automation workflows, and spatial ETL pipelines. Collaborate with Solution Architects and Developers to align GIS architecture with project and system design goals. Optimize map performance, data rendering, and server configurations for large datasets and high concurrency. Implement security, access control, and user role management within GIS platforms. Support data migration, map publication, and integration with third-party systems. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior GIS developers and analysts. Participate in governance reviews, performance audits, and continuous improvement initiatives. Requirements Minimum 8–12 years of experience in GIS development, with at least 5 years in enterprise-grade GIS solution design and implementation. Expertise in Esri ArcGIS Suite (ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, Portal for ArcGIS). Proficiency in ArcGIS API for JavaScript, Python (ArcPy, ArcGIS API for Python), and web development frameworks (React, Angular, or Node.js). Strong understanding of geospatial data models, coordinate systems, map projections, and spatial analysis techniques. Experience in spatial databases (PostGIS, SQL Server Spatial, Oracle Spatial) and data ETL processes for GIS. Familiarity with OGC standards (WMS, WFS, WMTS) and integration of GIS services into enterprise applications. Experience developing custom geoprocessing tools, automated workflows, and REST API integrations. Knowledge of cloud-based GIS deployments (Azure Maps, AWS Location Services, or Esri Cloud). Exposure to Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or CAD-to-GIS integrations is a plus. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data accuracy and performance optimization. Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. Preferred Skills (Good to Have) Esri Developer Certification or ArcGIS Enterprise Administration Certification. Experience with QGIS, Mapbox, or OpenLayers. Familiarity with Python-based data science tools (Pandas, GeoPandas, Shapely). Exposure to AI/ML-driven spatial analytics or 3D GIS and LiDAR data processing. Experience in construction, infrastructure, or urban planning GIS applications. Knowledge of containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) for GIS service deployment. Ability to mentor development teams, review design decisions, and ensure architectural consistency. Preferred Skills (Good to Have) Cloud Architecture Certifications – AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert. PMP, TOGAF, or Agile Certification. Exposure to AI/ML-based architecture, automation frameworks, or data-driven analytics platforms. Experience with enterprise integration platforms, API gateways, or service mesh technologies. Prior experience in construction, engineering, or manufacturing domain solutions is an advantage.
