We are looking to hire a professional Interpreter for a full-time Consultant-Japanese Interpreter role (English to Japanese language) to join our growing international team.

Responsibilities:

Provide accurate interpretation between Japanese and English languages during meetings, conferences, and other business-related events.

• Assist in translating written documents, such as emails, reports, and presentations, from Japanese to English and vice versa.

• Conduct research and gather information to ensure accurate understanding and interpretation of technical terms and industry-specific jargon.

• Act as a cultural liaison, helping to bridge the gap between Japanese and English-speaking colleagues by explaining cultural nuances and customs.

• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while handling sensitive information and discussions during interpretation sessions.

• Collaborate with other interpreters and translators to ensure consistency and accuracy in language interpretation across different projects and departments.

• Stay updated with industry trends, news, and developments in both Japanese and English-speaking countries to enhance interpretation skills and knowledge.

• Assist in organizing and coordinating business trips, including making travel arrangements and providing interpretation support during international visits.

• Provide language support during negotiations, presentations, and business meetings to facilitate effective communication and understanding between Japanese and English-speaking parties.

Requirements:

  • Our organization is looking for someone with good verbal and written communication skills who can connect with Japanese clients and discuss with them.
  • Degree in Linguistics/Languages, Communications, Multi-media or any related degree.
  • Fluent in both Japanese and English languages.
  • Distinction in JLPT Level 3, 2 or 1 Japanese (or higher qualifications) – in order to interpret Japanese / English documents.
  • Proven work understanding as a Translator, Interpreter or comparative job.
  • Aside from Japanese and English, fluent in one or more other languages is a plus.

• Extensive knowledge of Japanese culture, customs, and business etiquette

• Proven experience in interpreting and translating between Japanese and English in a professional setting
