About the Role - This position plays a pivotal role in driving cost efficiency and financial accuracy for automotive components in Padmini VNA. This position involves analyzing and finalizing costs for new RFQs, collaborating with the Design and Development team on BOM costing, and tracking pricing revisions and cost-reduction initiatives. The role demands a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, including sheet metal, machining, casting, and plastics, as well as proficiency in cost estimation techniques. It is a key position aimed at optimizing product profitability and supporting strategic business decisions.


Responsibilities -

  • Conduct detailed cost analysis for child parts of new RFQs (Request for Quotations).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate costing aligned with customer requirements.
  • Work closely with the Design and Development (D&D) team to finalize the Bill of Materials (BOM) cost for new and existing products.
  • Monitor and manage commodity price trends and apply indexation methods to ensure accurate costing and pricing strategies.
  • Track and update pricing revisions for existing parts in collaboration with relevant teams.
  • Maintain documentation and reporting for price adjustments and their impact.
  • Actively track cost-reduction initiatives and Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA VE) projects.
  • Support teams in identifying and implementing cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of key manufacturing processes such as machining, casting, and plastic molding, rubber and plastic.
  • Use this knowledge to accurately estimate manufacturing costs.
  • Calculate Manufacturing Hourly Rates (MHR) for various processes and update rates periodically based on industry standards and company benchmarks.


Qualifications & Experiance-


  • B.Tech in Mechanical/Production Engineering or equivalent.
  • Certification in Cost Engineering/ICWAI/CMA is highly desirable.
  • 5+ years of experience in cost estimation or related roles in the automotive component industry.


Technical Skills


  • Proficient in cost estimation techniques and tools.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (sheet metal, machining, casting, and plastic molding).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and costing modules is a plus.


Analytical Skills:


  • Exceptional analytical abilities with attention to detail.
  • Strong data interpretation and presentation skills.


Soft Skills:

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
