About TechOps:
The newly formed Technology Operations (TechOps) team is bridging the interface between our international customer organization for Koerber pharmaceutical software and the internal product support, business solutions, product infrastructure and deployment operations teams. It acts as a one stop shop for 2nd Level Support and escalation management team to ensure our customers receive best in class support and responses. The TechOps vision is to ensure 24/7 operations of our PAS X-MES products and support in the SaaS and OnPrem environment.
Job Summary:
The Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for providing L2 technical support and escalation management to ensure the smooth operation of systems, infrastructure, and business solutions within the organization. The role requires a strong understanding of various technologies and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues to help identify the shortest path resolution. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including NOC Operations, Technical Product Operations, Business Application Management and Deployment Operations to enhance system reliability, performance, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
OpenStack Deployment and Management
Expertise in OpenStack deployment and management, preferably using Kolla-Ansible.
Design, deploy, and maintain scalable OpenStack infrastructure to support business and operational needs.
Implement and manage OpenStack services including Compute (Nova), Networking (Neutron), Storage (Cinder/Swift), and Identity (Keystone).
Infrastructure Design and Optimization
Strong expertise in deep troubleshooting to resolve operational issues, with a comprehensive understanding of core Linux system components, including the kernel and its interaction with hardware.
Automation and Configuration Management
Create and maintain automation scripts and tools for infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using tools like Ansible, Terraform, or similar.
Drive Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) initiatives to improve deployment efficiency.
Monitoring and Troubleshooting
Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure high availability and quick incident resolution.
Diagnose and resolve complex issues related to OpenStack and supporting infrastructure.
Security and Compliance
Implement security best practices, including network isolation, encryption, and compliance with organizational security policies.
Conduct regular security assessments and patch management.
Collaboration and Leadership
Work closely with cross-functional teams including development, operations, and security teams to deliver reliable infrastructure.
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership for OpenStack initiatives.
Documentation and Knowledge Sharing
Maintain comprehensive documentation for infrastructure configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides.
Conduct training sessions and knowledge transfer to team members.
Skills & Qualifications:
Technical Expertise
Deep knowledge of OpenStack architecture and services (Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Keystone, etc.).
Strong experience in Linux systems administration (preferably CentOS, Ubuntu).
Proficiency in virtualization technologies like KVM, QEMU, or VMware.
Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
Automation and Scripting
Hands-on experience with automation tools like Ansible, Terraform, or SaltStack.
Strong programming or scripting skills in Python, Bash, and SQL
Solid understanding of database concepts, including MySQL/MariaDB and especially Galera clustering.
Networking and Storage
Solid understanding of networking concepts including VLANs, VXLANs, SDN, and load balancing.
Familiarity with common network storage connect protocols such as NFS and iscsi/iscsid.
Proficiency in operating Ceph storages.
Monitoring and Tools
Proficiency in using monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
Familiarity with logging and analysis tools like ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) or Graylog.
Soft Skills
Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Education & Certifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent.
Certifications such as OpenStack Certified Administrator (OSCA), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), or equivalent are a plus.
Proficient in English verbal and written.
Experience:
9+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, with at least 5+ years focused on OpenStack.
Hands-on experience with OpenStack infrastructure management and automation tools.
Ability to think and work independently
Proficient in analyzing and troubleshooting malfunctions in distributed systems, including components such as Linux, various open-source tools, OpenStack modules, and associated hardware like servers and networks.
Working Hours:
Must be available for on-call rotations and after-hours support when required.
