Job Summary:

The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, coding, and maintaining data pipelines that clean, process, and harmonize data from varied sources. The focus of this role is to accelerate data analytics initiatives, by efficiently making data easy and ready to consume for AI / ML scenarios.

The Data Engineer ensures adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements and Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as appropriate.

Essential Functions:

- Hands-on ETL design and development of complex data pipelines from multiple systems producing datasets ready for AI / ML consumption- Advanced SQL development implementing data processing computations and transformations- Automating, monitoring, and ensuring uptime of production data pipelines and integrations- Troubleshooting and remediating performance and data quality issues- Configuring reusable connections to various data sources- Collaboratively design data models and solutions with analysts and business teams- Utilizing source control tools to maintain version control for databases and code- Evangelize an extremely high standard of code quality, system reliability, and performance

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required:

- 3+ years of ETL and data pipeline development (Azure Data Factory, Dell Boomi, Databricks)- Data engineering programming languages (SQL, Scala)- Databases and database objects (SQL Server, SQL DDL)- Understanding of connectors and data sources (e.g., flat files, web APIs, SFTP, databases)- Source control (Git)- Familiarity with cloud frameworks and solutions (Azure Storage, Azure SQL, PaaS)- Familiarity with AI / ML concepts and data use-cases- Generalist, who can get up-to-speed quickly with new technologies through self-paced learning and online research- Analytical thinker with excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, as required, in a fast-paced, matrixed, team environment consisting of internal and external team members- Excellent planning, organization and time management skills including the ability to support and prioritize multiple projects

Minimum level of education and years of relevant work experience.

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience, preferably within a pharmaceutical, biotechnology or related environment
