JOB PURPOSE:
The Salesforce Architect brings a breadth of architecture and technology experience to direct the concepts, technology vision, and technical roadmaps, and develop the architecture practice to drive overall standards and shape our IT Products to enable business technology strategies.
The Salesforce Architect is a person with strong technical capability ideally with agriculture acumen and someone who can collaborate with our business and technology partners, act as a trusted advisor, and lead technical transformations and implementations for our growth function.
The Salesforce Architect's responsibilities include gathering requirements and functional specifications, assessing the current software systems in place in order to identify areas in need of improvement, and overseeing development teams.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core
- Collaborate closely with Product Owners to define, articulate, and execute the product vision and roadmap within the Salesforce platform
- Build and manage the digital architecture road maps and map the evolution of the product applications and technology from current to future state
- Leads technical refinement estimation of backlog, in concert with their technical team members, beginning in visioning with judgement and expertise on feasibility assessment and delivery planning
- Lead the design and implementation of application, technical, and security architectures within Salesforce for the portfolio and the priority artifacts as agreed with Enterprise Architect Lead and Product Owner.
- Ensure product stability and scalability through iterative development and review cycles within Salesforce and work toward a sustained support model.
- Responsible for the review and design of product changes and provide guidance to technical teams for support issues as required.
- Document and maintain the business domain architecture(s) including actionable conceptual and logical architectural designs using established enterprise and application design patterns.
- Analyze business drivers to establish corresponding change requirements and investigate the IT environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement
- Understands Product roadmap risks, issues, and blockers actively assists with issue resolution
Elevation
- Provides guidance to developers and testers on the team on architecture, development practices and processes, to help them achieve technical excellence and remove obstacles to delivery
- develop and mentor technical talent within the team
- Achieves elevated customer satisfaction in the scope of solutions they are creating by delivering a high degree of quality and superior user experience
Guardianship
- Act as the "guardian of the global process & solutions" to ensure that McCain maintains global standardization unless deviation is required for specific market conditions and this is agreed by the appropriate product owners / business sponsors
- Act as the guardian of the user experience to facilitate product adoption, onboarding and process efficiency
- Ensure all solution acquisition and technology projects are authorized and executed in accordance with the requirements of Technology Governance.
- Ensure solutions and technical decision align with the strategic drivers and architectural mandate of the McCain Technical organization
Engagement
- Establish and execute a strong engagements plan with technical & product stakeholders
- Work with Global & Regional IS stakeholders to execute technical initiatives in line with the IS strategic drivers
- Develop partnership relationships with our strategic vendors to maximize the value from these engagements
- Build positive relationships by engaging peers within the business and technical teams accountable for updating reference architectures and standards and ensuring adherence to industry and McCain technology standards and guidelines.
- Establish and maintain communication with technology client groups and clearly communicate architectural risks to partners.
Data-driven Organization
- Ensure core data is supported with the appropriate architectural, interface and process design to assure data timeliness, completeness, and integrity
- Identify opportunities within the business to improve or provide data & insights to enhance decisions or facilitate agility.
- Partner with relevant technology teams to ensure data availability for users to self-serve and that integration points enable reliable transfer of information.
Capability
- support product owner& business to ensure products are supported with an appropriate network of support for user onboarding and capability.
- Support the development of training programs & materials, to sustain product capability.
Innovation
- Proactively Explore and communicate industry trends and advancements in technology to identify new and leading solutions that will significantly impact the achievement of the business objectives and move McCain ahead of the competition.
Solution Acquisition
- Assist in developing business cases for new applications.
- Ensure that new applications are scalable for global applicability and that McCain has one global applications vs multiple regional applications.
- Assist in ensuring that new solutions are properly integrated with existing applications
- Assist with RFI/RFP process for selection of software provider and system integrators.
- Assist in the development of contracts, professional service agreements and statements of work.
- Responsible for the blueprint, realization, testing, training, go live and hypercare.
- Assist with ongoing application requirements e.g. contract renewals and licenses etc.
Releases/Upgrades & Evolution
- Responsible for defining and monitoring technical release, upgrade, and development processes to ensure the stability of the system and minimal business disruption relating to technical change.
- Responsible for test script scenarios, engaging the business on testing application prior to go live and support the business through hyper care periods.
- Assist with the development of life cycle roadmaps for all products
- Includes version alignment globally and timing of upgrades.
- Ensure new functionality is communicated to the business.
- Prepare for any "end of life" scenarios and work to develop replacement alternatives.
MEASURES OF SUCCESS:
- The Salesforce Architect has a deep knowledge of the product, the market, and customers.
- Ability to easily context-switch for both strategic and tactical activities
- Communication:Good social and communication skills to openly identify architectural consequences to relevant parties across the organization
- Excellent Analytical, problem solving, prioritization and collaboration skills.
- Project Management: strong project management skills
- Change Management: ability to manage multiple stakeholders and communication platforms to ensure success of projects
- Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to work with all levels within the organization
KEY QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCES:
- STEM Bachelor's degree
- Five or more years of experience designing and leading creative architecture solutions
- Extensive experience across various architecture domains, especially within Salesforce environments and are proficient in generating technical roadmaps and architectures to lead architecture concepts
- Minimum of 3-5 years of demonstrated successful work experience in the food or manufacturing industry, ideally with experience in Agriculture context
- A solid understanding of master data and its integration.
- Experience in leading project teams preferably in a global environment.
- Experience working within an agile project delivery framework
- Advanced knowledge of architecture tools, processes, and procedures
- A proven ability to interpret and communicate IT related information and concepts into business language for senior level stakeholders
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across levels and functions internally and with third parties.

- Experience working in a fast paced, changing environment with ambiguous conditions, dealing with both internal and external customers, including cross functional teams.
