Virbhu, a leader in the power electronics sector, is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead operations at our Research and Development (R&D) facility in Vadodara, India. This role is key to the development and production of power electronics products, overseeing all functions from team management to product development, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The General Manager will drive our agile, innovative company forward, ensuring the success of R&D projects, contract manufacturing, and the launch of new products.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Development:
Lead the R&D team in developing innovative power electronics products (e.g., UPS, rectifiers, inverters) from concept to market, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards.Team Leadership:
Manage and develop a team of 20 engineers, including the engineering manager, fostering an environment of innovation, efficiency, and teamwork.Operational Oversight:
Provide oversight of all functions, including R&D, HR, safety, fire protection, and compliance with industry regulations. Ensure that all projects and operations align with the company’s strategic goals and timelines.Production Outsourcing:
Manage relationships with contract manufacturers, ensuring high-quality production standards while optimizing costs and on-time deliveries.Cross-Functional Leadership:
Oversee and coordinate with supply chain for outsourcing of manufacturing , procurement, HR, and finance teams to optimize sourcing strategies, ensuring timely deliveries and production efficiency.P&L Responsibility:
Take full responsibility for profit and loss of the R&D function , with a focus on cost-effectiveness, resource utilization, and financial performance.Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate with universities and other research institutions to support R&D efforts, implementing mathematical simulations and prototyping.
Qualifications:
Educational Background:
Must possess a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics.Experience:
20 to 30 years of experience in power electronics, with a strong track record of product development, safety management, and regulatory compliance.Leadership Experience:
Proven experience leading large, cross-functional teams in a goal driven environment, with a focus on R&D and production.Production Management:
Experience managing contract manufacturing relationships and outsourcing production.P&L Expertise:
Demonstrated experience in managing profit and loss for a business unit, with strong financial acumen.
Preferred Experience:
R&D Expertise:
Previous experience in a medium-sized company, focusing on R&D project execution, prototype creation, and industrialization.Collaborative Leadership:
Strong ability to lead by example, encouraging innovative thinking and efficient execution within teams.
