Objective:The Data Governance Specialist is responsible for ensuring the integrity, quality, and compliance of organizational data through the development and implementation of effective data governance policies and procedures.The Data Governance Specialist needs to collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and maintain a framework for managing data assets, ensuring data privacy, and promoting data-driven decision-making within the organization.

ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality, security, and compliance with relevant regulations.Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to align data governance policies with industry standards and regulations.Classify data based on sensitivity and criticality and define ownership responsibilities for different data assets.Work with business units to identify data stewards and establish clear accountability for data quality and integrity.Develop and maintain a metadata management framework to document data definitions, lineage, and usage within the organization.Implement tools and processes to capture and store metadata associated with data assets.Design and implement data quality assessment processes to identify and address data quality issues.Collaborate with data stewards and business units to establish and monitor data quality metrics.Collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure data privacy and security measures are in place.Implement and monitor access controls, encryption, and data masking techniques to safeguard sensitive information.Conduct training sessions to raise awareness of data governance principles and practices.Provide guidance and support to employees on adhering to data governance policies.Continuously assess and enhance the data governance framework based on industry best practices and organizational needs.Work closely with business units, IT, legal, and compliance teams to foster a collaborative data governance culture.Communicate the benefits of data governance to stakeholders at various levels within the organization.A comprehensive understanding of the practical application of the GDPR or similar data privacy law, relating to the processing of personal dataAble to exercise professional judgement in managing requests of, and communicating with, customers and regulators
