Job Outline
Position Overview:
The Lead Cinematographer will be a key creative and technical force within ISB Studios, responsible for leading the visual storytelling of ISB's projects. This role will encompass both individual cinematography work on high-priority shoots and the management of a team of cinematographers. The Lead Cinematographer will work closely with producers, directors, and the post-production team to ensure that each piece of content aligns with ISB’s visual and narrative standards, and adheres to the brand’s tone.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Individual Cinematography Work (50%)
Execute Cinematography on High-Priority Projects: Serve as the primary cinematographer for select high-impact projects, bringing a refined visual style and creative insight to deliver compelling visuals.
Operate and Maintain Equipment: Use various cameras, lighting setups, and technical equipment to execute the vision of each project, ensuring that ISB Studios’ technical standards are upheld.
Pre-Production Planning: Collaborate with directors and production teams during pre-production to interpret storyboards, discuss shot lists, and determine the best equipment, locations, and lighting setups to achieve the desired outcome.
Location Scouting: Identify optimal locations for shooting that align with the aesthetic and technical needs of each project.
Lighting and Composition: Oversee and implement the lighting setup to enhance mood, emotion, and narrative across a variety of formats (e.g., interviews, B-roll, event coverage).
2. Team Leadership and Mentorship (30%)
Lead a Team of Cinematographers: Manage a small team of cinematographers, providing direction, feedback, and mentorship to improve their skills and consistency in meeting ISB Studios’ standards.
Assign and Supervise Tasks: Allocate responsibilities to team members based on project needs and skill sets, overseeing shoots to ensure continuity, quality, and efficient workflow.
Training and Development: Conduct training sessions to enhance the team’s technical knowledge and creative skills, keeping them updated on industry trends and new technologies.
Quality Control: Review team members’ work regularly, offering constructive feedback and ensuring consistency with ISB Studios’ visual guidelines and brand aesthetics.
3. Cross-Departmental Collaboration and Project Management (20%)
Work with Producers and Directors: Collaborate closely with production leads, directors, and the post-production team to align visual outputs with project goals and timelines.
Provide Creative Input: Contribute to creative discussions, suggesting innovative visual ideas and techniques that will elevate the narrative and visual impact.
Project Coordination: Assist in scheduling, budgeting, and logistics planning for various productions to ensure efficient execution and timely delivery of projects.
Quality Assurance: Monitor the technical and aesthetic quality of all visual assets, ensuring they meet ISB’s branding and production standards before final delivery.
Job Specification
Knowledge / Education
Education: Degree in Film, Visual Arts, Cinematography, or a related field.
Knowledge and experience on Editing will be a plus.
Specific Skills
- Proficient with professional cameras (Black Magic,Canon, ARRI, Sony, etc.), lenses, lighting setups, and post-production processes.- A strong portfolio demonstrating versatility across various styles and formats, including interviews, narrative storytelling, and events- Exceptional eye for detail, composition, and lighting; strong interpersonal and leadership skills to manage and motivate a team; excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
Desirable Experience
Experience: Minimum of 8 years in cinematography, with 2+ years in a lead or supervisory role.
Ability to bring fresh, visually captivating ideas that align with ISB Studios’ objectives.
