Business Development Director – Infra

The role:
The Business Development Director role is a senior position within Austrade’s Trade and Investment team. Key responsibilities are to maintain relationships with existing clients and to develop meaningful new relationships with potential clients and customers in the market, and to work collaboratively within a team to provide high quality advice and support services that help enable Trade and Investment decisions, sector of focus is Sustainable Infrastructure.
We seek genuine team players with deep experience, confidence, and presence to engage with the highest levels of decision makers within business and family offices, and who can spot and communicate opportunities for them to grow their business interests through Trade and Investment in Australia.
The successful candidate will have a good understanding of the Sustainable Infrastructure sector, green economy and decarbonisation trends in the development of new infrastructure value chains in India, the issues that are important to international business, and what the implications of these are for attracting trade between India & Australia.
Duties include
As Trade and Investment Director for Infrastructure sector, you will:
• Build commercial relationships and networks to enable greater engagement for Australian
businesses in India in Green economy sector, especially urban development.
• Identify and provide insights on regional industry trends, major policy changes and their impacts on trade and investment opportunities for Australian infrastructure industry.
• Promote market engagement opportunities through effective use of Austrade’s online presence
• Manage and grow a client portfolio, providing customised services to assist Australian businesses with market entry or expansion in South Asia and generate commercial outcomes.
• Identify opportunities to promote Australia as a world-class exporter of products, services and knowledge in green economy sector at relevant conferences and business events.
• Ensure a strong working relationship with other Australian government agencies in the market like Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and other industry bodies, and partners
• Maximise the potential of the market and assist in the identification and removal of barriers to market entry
• Support visits to the market by Australian government ministers and senior officials through the development of briefing documents and programs to raise the profile of Australian businesses, investment opportunities, and to foster new business linkages in priority sectors in South Asia.
