Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Commercial Underwriter to evaluate and assess the risk involved in providing commercial loans, insurance, or credit products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial analysis, risk management, and decision-making in a fast-paced commercial environment. The underwriter will be responsible for analyzing business financials, market conditions, and potential risks to make informed recommendations for underwriting commercial clients.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Risk Assessment: Review and analyze financial statements, business operations, credit reports, and collateral to assess the level of risk associated with commercial loans or insurance policies.
  • Loan/Policy Underwriting: Evaluate new loan applications, renewals, and extensions for commercial clients; make recommendations or decisions within assigned approval limits.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct detailed assessments of clients’ financial health, including cash flow analysis, profitability, and liquidity ratios to determine creditworthiness.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Ensure that underwriting decisions comply with internal guidelines, state and federal regulations, and industry standards.
  • Communication: Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including loan officers, brokers, and clients, to gather necessary information, clarify underwriting decisions, and address any concerns.
  • Portfolio Management: Monitor and manage a portfolio of commercial clients, ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines and mitigating risks through ongoing analysis.
  • Market Knowledge: Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and economic conditions that may impact underwriting decisions.
  • Reporting: Prepare reports on underwriting decisions, portfolio performance, and risk exposure to management.
