To put in another way let’s assume an application you use every day, took 1 year to build testing alone took 3 month of entire build time.QA Skill Set for 5 Years of Experience in Automation and No-Code/Low-Code AutomationCore QA Skills- Strong understanding of QA fundamentals: SDLC, STLC, defect life cycle, release process- Expertise in test planning, estimation, and prioritization- Proficiency in writing detailed test cases, test scenarios, and acceptance criteria- Hands-on experience with Agile/Scrum methodology and CI/CD practices- Manual testing: functional, regression, smoke, sanity, and exploratory testing- Experience in UI, API, and database validation- Defect reporting, tracking, and performing Root Cause Analysis (RCA)Automation Testing Skills- Programming & Scripting: Proficient in at least one language (Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript). Strong in OOPs, data structures, exception handling, and debugging- Automation Frameworks:- Selenium WebDriver for UI automation- TestNG / JUnit / NUnit / xUnit- BDD tools: Cucumber / SpecFlow- API automation: Postman (collections + Newman), RestAssured, Playwright, Cypress- Framework Design:- Page Object Model (POM), hybrid, and data-driven frameworks- Reusable utilities and custom reporting (Extent, Allure)- CI/CD integration (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps)- Other Areas:- Database testing automation using SQL- Performance testing basics with k6, JMeter- Cross-browser and mobile automation using BrowserStack, AppiumNo-Code / Low-Code Automation Skills- Test Automation Platforms:- Hands-on with tools like Testim.io, Katalon Studio, Leapwork, Tricentis Tosca, Worksoft.- Experience in CI/CD integration with no-code/low-code tools- Ability to extend automation flows with scripting when required- API & Workflow Automation:- Postman collections and monitorsSupporting/Advanced Skills- Version control with Git/GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket- Defect tracking using JIRA, Azure Boards, Rally, TFS- Test management tools: Zephyr, TestRail, qTest- Basic cloud and container knowledge: Docker, Selenium Grid, cloud execution providers (SauceLabs, BrowserStack)- Quality metrics: test coverage, code coverage, QA dashboardsSoft Skills- Strong communication and stakeholder management- Experience in mentoring junior testers and leading small QA teams- Participation in sprint ceremonies: planning, grooming, retrospectives- Ability to evaluate and recommend automation tools (code & no-code)- Strong documentation and reporting skillsExpectations for a 5-Year QA Professional:- Hands-on in scripting automation frameworks- Proficient in using at least one no-code/low-code platform- Ability to manage end-to-end test automation strategy across UI, API, and workflows- Contributing to test strategy decisions and mentoring team members
