Job Overview:


We are looking for a highly skilled and innovative Machine Learning Engineer specialising in Generative AI with a focus on Natural Language Processing (NLP) to join our product focussed team. You will be at the forefront of building and deploying cutting-edge AI systems that enable our AltrumAI platform to understand, generate, and transform natural language in dynamic and novel ways. In this role, you will collaborate with software developers and product managers to integrate state-of-the-art generative models and NLP pipelines that power intelligent and adaptive user experiences.


Responsibilities:


  • Design, develop, and deploy advanced Generative AI models for NLP tasks such as language generation, text completion, summarisation, machine translation, dialogue systems, and other generative text applications.
  • Build, fine-tune, and optimise large-scale transformer-based models such as GPTs, BERT, T5, and other cutting-edge architectures to drive product features.
  • Research and experiment with novel generative techniques, including large language models (LLMs) , diffusion models , and multimodal learning , to enhance the capabilities of AltrumAI.
  • Develop scalable machine learning pipelines for training, validation, and inference of generative models using frameworks like Hugging Face Transformers , PyTorch , TensorFlow , and other deep learning toolkits.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate generative models into user-facing applications, ensuring high-quality performance, low-latency inference, and seamless UX/UI integration.
  • Design and implement API endpoints for serving generative models in production, ensuring real-time, high-performance deployment.
  • Stay current with emerging trends and breakthroughs in the Generative AI and NLP space, continuously exploring ways to improve product quality and capabilities.
  • Optimise and deploy models in cloud environments (e.g., AWS preferred ) leveraging GPUs, distributed systems, and cloud-based ML services like SageMaker .
  • Ensure that all AI solutions meet performance, security, and scalability requirements, implementing robust monitoring and troubleshooting systems.
  • Participate in code reviews, peer collaboration, and mentor junior engineers on best practices in Generative AI , deep learning, and NLP.
  • Collaborate in an Agile development environment , participating in sprints, prioritising tasks, and delivering high-impact features on tight timelines.


Required Qualifications / Experience:


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4+ years of experience working as a Machine Learning Engineer, with a proven track record in Generative AI and NLP.
  • Strong programming skills in Python with experience in NLP libraries such as Hugging Face Transformers , SpaCy , and NLTK .
  • Hands-on experience working with large datasets, training LLMs, and using techniques such as transfer learning , fine-tuning , and model distillation to optimise models for specific tasks.
  • Proficiency in designing scalable machine learning pipelines for training and inference, utilising frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow .
  • Experience deploying generative models into production environments, with strong skills in Docker , Kubernetes , or serverless frameworks .
  • Expertise in RESTful API design and integration, enabling efficient interaction with generative AI models in SaaS platforms.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and experience with CI/CD pipelines to automate model deployment.


Desirable Skills / Experience:


  • Hands-on experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) for tasks such as conversational agents, code generation, creative writing, and other AI-driven content creation.
  • Familiarity with multimodal models that combine NLP with other data modalities (e.g., text + image generation) using frameworks like CLIP or DALL-E.
  • Experience with Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF) and fine-tuning LLMs based on user interactions or feedback loops.
  • Knowledge of differential privacy and other methods to ensure responsible use of generative AI, particularly in handling sensitive user data.
  • Understanding of MLOps practices, including model versioning, continuous experimentation, and scaling for large AI models.
  • Knowledge of bias detection and mitigation techniques in NLP models to ensure fairness and reduce harmful outputs in generated content.


Work Environment:


This role is a completely remote role based in India, with flexibility in working hours to accommodate

collaboration across different time zones and project deadlines.
