As part of this significant programme of change, the function is expected to re-design and rationalize the Analytics, Technology, Architecture and Data. The key areas of focus for the WCDAO function include:

Defining the Wholesale Data & Analytics strategy with a focus on Asia. Continue to stretch HSBCs ambition and push boundaries on the use and adoption of Data & Analytics to unlock value and drive growth 10x. Continue the pivot to all Regions to deliver value to our stakeholders – customers, employees, regulator and investors. build locally, deploy globally Embed Customer Led Design in our delivery life-cycle and evolve our delivery methods continued focus on agile @scale. Design and build a Customer Responsive Architecture - delivering on customer expectations in understanding their needs by capturing, interpreting and connecting every customer and market event in real-time. Driving Next Gen MI – shape how we run, manage and report on our business in real-time Deliver a new Operating model. Scale of common and shared services utilities with the potential to Build, Operate and Transfer utilities into 1. Group; 2. Platform integration/convergence; 3. Effective Organisation Design; 4. Embed Minimum Viable Governance Deliver and evidence return on investment on our committed Book of Work. Collaborate effectively with xLoB, Group Functions and Group with a particular focus on building common capabilities and stakeholder value Gain industry recognition for delivering a differentiating proposition to our key stakeholders People Focus - Investment in our People, with focus in the areas of Career Planning and development, Customer Experience, Raising awareness in Risk, Control and Finance & Story Telling

What you’ll do:

Principal responsibilities

Develop innovative and impactful data-based tools and models for propensity modeling and risk mitigation, continuously evaluate the effectiveness of models and make recommendations for improvements. Extract, transform, and load (ETL) from various sources, ensuring data quality, accuracy and integrity. Design and optimize data pipelines, ensuring efficient data extraction, storage and processing. Conduct in-depth analysis of complex transactional and demographic datasets to identify patterns for identifying risk and opportunities. Extract and integrate data from external sources, such as public databases, social media platforms and third-party vendors to enhance advanced analytics capabilities. Contribute to innovation initiatives and overall analytics strategy under the wholesale data science and analytics head. Advocate and promote the use of data science to drive fact-based activity and behavior in wholesale banking globally. Engage various stakeholders to understand and collect project requirement, present analysis and or results, make recommendations on strategy formulation and solicit project feedback Work with and leverage solutions and approaches developed by the wider HSBC Analytics community. Keeping up to date on the latest advanced analytics and big data technologies. Engage with academia on shared research topics related to new trends in advanced analytics. Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:

Proficiency in using Python, SQL, or similar analytically oriented programming languages University degree in Computer Science, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics or any other quantitative related discipline, PhD or Master degree is highly preferred. 2+ years of relevant experience, preferably in banking and financial sector In depth knowledge and experience with machine learning techniques and algorithms. Experience with cloud analytics platforms such as GCP, Azure and AWS and big data platforms such as Hadoop, Spark, etc. Extensive technical skill in data mining, able to understand various data structures both structured and unstructured and common methods in data transformation High technical aptitude, problem solving abilities, intellectual curiosity, motivation, and passion for data discovery Open minded and self-motivated with good communication and interpersonal skills as well as strong sense of responsibility Knowledge of SAS and good experience with data visualization tools such as Qlik or Tableau will be a strong plus. Experience in commercial bank is a plus but not necessary. Interested in staying up to date on the latest advanced analytics and big data technologies. Possess good business sense of their application in the commercial banking business. Attention to details, with good communication and presentation skills Solid technical skills in MS Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge in other business intelligence or analytics tools will be advantageous Fluent written and spoken English
