Senior Backend Engineer Location: India - Remote Type: Full-time Compensation: ₹20-50 LPA basis experience We are hiring a Senior Backend Engineer on behalf of a fast-growing SaaS startup that is building intelligent inventory and forecasting systems for modern e-commerce businesses. As one of the first backend hires, you will work closely with the CTO to design, scale, and optimize a high-performance, data-intensive platform already used by hundreds of merchants. This is a hands-on role with significant ownership, technical depth, and product impact. Responsibilities Architect, design, and implement scalable backend systems and APIs handling millions of data points Improve reliability, observability, and performance across distributed systems Collaborate with product and data teams to deliver new features end-to-end Contribute to infrastructure improvements, CI/CD, and cloud deployments Adopt AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate development and maintain quality Requirements 4+ years of professional experience building production-grade software in startups or tech product environments Strong proficiency in Python (experience with FastAPI preferred) Solid understanding of PostgreSQL and database performance optimization Experience with GCP or other major cloud platforms Pragmatic approach to engineering, balancing speed and scalability Strong communication skills and comfort working in small, distributed teams Preferred Qualifications Experience with ETL/data pipelines (Airflow, Dagster, or Airbyte) Familiarity with ClickHouse or other analytical databases Knowledge of event-driven architectures Background in e-commerce , inventory , or supply chain domains Experience scaling systems from startup to growth stage Exposure to AI/ML engineering Tech Stack Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, QuestDB, ClickHouse, GCP, Docker, Next.js What’s Offered Competitive compensation package (₹20-50 LPA basis experience) Opportunity to build and scale core systems from the ground up Direct collaboration with founding engineers and product leadership Flexible, remote-first culture with hybrid options in Paris and London
