The Opportunity
DAT Solutions is looking for a Technical Engineering Manager to join our Engineering team in Bangalore, India
The Technical Engineering Manager is responsible for the overall architecture and technical direction of one or more software engineering teams. This individual must be highly proficient with current software development technology, tools, and practices, particularly in the area of Software As A Service model. The candidate must have experience with microservices, API design, and cloud-native architectures, and possess the ability to understand implementation-level details. The successful candidate will be able to steer projects to support DAT’s enterprise goals.
Organizational Responsibilities
Partner with Product Management, UX Development, Cloud Engineering, Architecture and business stakeholders to create product roadmaps and release schedules. Communicate project status and escalate issues to direct managers, product management, and internal development partners. Build strong relationships with business and technology stakeholders. Advance the development of engineering standards, employee onboarding guides, product documentation, and engineering documentation. Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reductions. Manage headcount, deliverables, schedules, and costs for multiple ongoing projects, ensuring that resources are appropriately allocated and that goals, objectives, timelines, and budgets are met in accordance with organizational roadmaps. Oversee the development of SaaS and Mobile products. Champion Agile methodologies including the Scrum framework. Leverage Agile practices to create repeatable and predictable software releases. Identify software delivery problems within teams and use your knowledge and experience to help resolve issues. Communicate release issues early, and work with Product Management, Architecture, Platform Engineering, and others to mitigate issues.Team Responsibilities
Lead one or more teams of software developers while helping create a culture of high-performance Deliver best-in-class software by mentoring development team leads, and individual contributors on software development best practices Help engineering teams tackle challenging problems by having a bias for action, including breaking problems into workable chunks, using iterative development, and leveraging software architecture design patterns. Define metrics for all engineering teams, oversee implementation of metrics measurement, and report on KPIs to executive leadership. Lead high-level (epic level) estimation exercises for product releases. Mentor development team leads on estimation techniques for feature and story level estimation. Provide people management for team members, including hiring, setting, and monitoring annual performance plans, coaching, motivating, rewarding, and career development. Scale teams that mix veteran talent eager for new challenges and new team members looking to grow their skill sets. Manage relationships with strategic partners and suppliers, including setting expectations regarding deliverables, product quality, schedules, and costs. Ensure that team members are effectively communicating and collaborating with these third-party resources.What You Will Bring
Bachelor’s in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline Relevant work experience may be substituted for education, including graduation from a top boot camp program 7+ years of software development experience 3+ years in a management role or leadership position preferred, 1+ years required Strong familiarity with software architecture patterns and their application. Ability to make architecture decisions for the products you manage. Management experience with engineering teams of 8+ members Experience working on projects that span multiple business units, serving multiple stakeholders Scrum or other Agile framework experience including leading Scrum teams, familiarity with scrum ceremonies and use of scrum artifacts to plan and predict software deliveries – Scrum Master Certification is a plus Experience working on projects that span multiple organizations and business units. Experience with code refactoring, design patterns, domain-driven development, CI/CD highly scalable applications, and application security preferred Git code management practices (GitHub) Experience overseeing the delivery of products from concept to execution. Management of production SaaS applications at scale Required Technical Experience: Familiarity with one or more of the following: Angular,React,, Node.js, CSS, Python, REST APIs, JavaScript, TypeScript. Experience with microservice architecture, TDD and CI/CD pipelines. Preferred Technical Experience: Confluence / Jira, GraphQL, RESTFUL APIs. One or more of the following: AWS Certified Solution Architect Associate, AWS Certified Developer Associate, or AWS Certified Operations Associate.
