Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior ServiceNow Engineer to lead the strategy, implementation, and ongoing management of our ServiceNow Discovery and CMDB. You will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and reliable asset data across a complex, global infrastructure (on-premises, virtualized, and cloud). This involves deep technical expertise in ServiceNow Discovery, CMDB modeling, integrations, and automation to drive continuous improvement in asset visibility and IT service management processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Discovery & Optimization:  Design, implement, and continuously optimize ServiceNow Discovery to identify, classify, and map all configuration items (CIs) across our diverse IT environment. Align discovery strategies with business needs and IT governance frameworks such NIST/DORA.
  • CMDB Architecture & Data Integrity:  Develop and maintain accurate CMDB data models that reflect our complex infrastructure, applications, and their dependencies. Define CI classes, attributes, and relationships to support efficient incident, problem, and change management.
  • Integration & Automation:  Build and manage robust CMDB integrations with third-party tools, data sources, cloud providers, and monitoring systems. Leverage scripting (JavaScript, PowerShell, Python) and automation to streamline discovery, reduce manual effort, and enhance CMDB accuracy.
  • Documentation & Governance:  Maintain comprehensive documentation, including architecture diagrams, configuration guides, process workflows, and governance policies. Establish and enforce data quality metrics, reconciliation processes, and regular audits to ensure CMDB integrity and compliance.
  • Mentorship & Technical Leadership:  Provide guidance and support to junior team members. Troubleshoot complex discovery and CMDB issues, and optimize platform performance. Act as a subject matter expert in ServiceNow Discovery and CMDB best practices.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement:  Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and ServiceNow platform updates. Recommend and implement solutions to enhance CMDB management, improve data quality, and adapt to evolving business requirements.
  • Collaboration & Communication:  Collaborate effectively with infrastructure, security, application teams, and business stakeholders to ensure CMDB data and discovery processes meet operational needs and support strategic IT initiatives. Communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Essential 

  • Experience:  5+ years of experience in ServiceNow platform administration, configuration, and development, with a strong focus on Discovery and CMDB.
  • ServiceNow Discovery and Service Mapping Expertise:  Proven proficiency with ServiceNow Discovery, CMDB modules, MID Server configuration, Service Mapping, and ECC Queues Experience troubleshooting discovery issues and optimizing CI population.
  • ITIL & CMDB Best Practices:  Solid understanding of ITIL frameworks, asset management principles, and CMDB best practices and CSDM. IT Infrastructure  Familiarity with network protocols, infrastructure components (servers, network devices), cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP), and integrating with third-party tools.
  • Communication & Collaboration:  Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Scripting & Automation:  Hands-on experience with scripting languages (JavaScript, PowerShell, Python) to automate tasks, customize integrations, and improve data quality.
