Job Description

Role Overview
The Senior Migration Engineer – M365 will be responsible for planning, executing, and validating complex Microsoft 365 migrations, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Teams. This role requires strong technical expertise, migration tool experience, and the ability to manage end-to-end migration projects with minimal supervision while collaborating with cross-functional teams and customers.

Key Responsibilities
Migration Planning & Design

Assess current environments (on-premises Exchange, SharePoint, file shares, legacy platforms).

Develop detailed migration strategies and cutover plans.

Prepare migration runbooks and rollback procedures.

Migration Execution

Perform mailbox, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams migrations using native Microsoft tools and third-party solutions (e.g., Quest, BitTitan, ShareGate).

Configure and manage Azure AD Connect, identity synchronization, and hybrid environments.

Ensure minimal downtime and disruption to end users.

Troubleshooting & Support

Resolve migration-related issues (mail flow, permissions, authentication, data integrity).

Work with Microsoft support for escalations when required.

Provide post-migration validation and support.

Collaboration & Documentation

Work closely with project managers, architects, and customer stakeholders.

Document migration processes, configurations, and lessons learned.

Train and mentor junior engineers on M365 migration best practices.

Required Skills & Experience
Technical Expertise:

10+ years of experience in Microsoft 365 migrations and administration.

Strong hands-on knowledge of Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Teams.

Experience with hybrid identity setups (Azure AD Connect, AD FS, password hash sync, pass-through authentication).

Familiarity with M365 security & compliance features.

Tools & Scripting:

Experience with migration tools like Quest ODM, BitTitan MigrationWiz, ShareGate, or SkyKick.

Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and troubleshooting.

Project Experience:

Proven track record of delivering large-scale, multi-phase M365 migrations.

Experience in cutover, staged, and hybrid migration approaches.
