Position Overview :

The Director of Data Science and Insights is a senior-level position that oversees the development and implementation of data-driven solutions for various business problems. The role is to drive the innovation and insights within NITS eco system using applied machine learning, statistical analysis, and prescriptive insights. The goal is to position NITS as leader in advance analytics within their industry domain and make NITS the go to company for insights and consulting needs. The individual will be responsible for leading teams that create data driven solutions using relevant learning algorithms and consultative insights. In this role you will educate the team on conceptual models for problem solving, apply data analytics approaches, and identify trends and insights to help translate goals and objectives into data driven recommendations.


This role will enable you to be responsible for contributing to the growth of the company by establishing strategies, developing strategic plans, and identifying new business opportunities. This is a multifaceted role including implementing applied analytics, consultative guidance and team development and project oversight/management.

Job Responsibilities :

- Act as a subject matter expert in the designing and recommending of appropriate analytical approaches and methodology in addressing key issues within the business.

- Define project goals and objectives and develop detailed work plans to meet client expectations.

- Oversee all aspects of the project lifecycle, from initiation through closeout.

- Explore business problems and model different solutions.

- Design client-specific strategic service offerings and approaches that will demonstrate value through the development.

- Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports.

- Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.

- Design data modeling processes to create algorithms and predictive models and perform custom analysis.

- Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.

- Build, develop and maintain data models, reporting systems, data automation systems, dashboards and performance metrics support that support key business decisions.

- Manage multiple resources and projects concurrently to ensure successful completion of analytic projects.

- Work with the team to establish future-facing insights, implications, and recommendations; deliver advice; and identify and solve problems.

- Develop strategic plans to help the company reach its growth goals.

- Lead a team of data scientists, analysts, engineers, and other data professionals to deliver high-quality data products and insights.

- Establish and execute the data science strategy and vision for the organization, aligning with the business goals and objectives.

- Develop and implement best practices for data collection, analysis, modeling, machine learning, and visualization.

- Communicate and present data insights and recommendations to stakeholders, executives, and external partners.

- Mentor and coach data team members, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.

- Stay updated on the latest trends, technologies, and methodologies in data science and analytics and provide knowledge transfer to the team.

- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop clear and compelling reports of analytic results and insights.

- Stay abreast of new analytic methods and technologies and supporting their development internally.

- Evangelize the product vision and align with the company objectives.

Qualifications :

- A master's or doctoral degree in data science, statistics, computer science, mathematics, engineering, or a related computation field from an accredited university or college.

- Several years of experience in data science, analytics, or a similar role, preferably in a leadership capacity.

- Proficiency in various data science tools and languages, such as Python, R, SAS, SQL, Spark, TensorFlow, etc.

- Expertise in applying data science techniques, such as data mining, machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, etc., to solve complex business problems.

- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

- A strategic and analytical mindset, with the ability to think creatively and critically.

- 10+ years in the field of applying methods in statistical learning in developing data driven solutions.

- 10+ proven years of experience in leading and managing large, complex consulting engagements & Proven ability to develop and execute business strategy.

- Experience in the automotive/aftersales industry is a must.

- Candidates require a combination of management, consultancy, project delivery and technical skills.

- Experience in cloud especially AWS technology.

- Experience in market/business intelligence, strategic planning, project management, and cross-functional business experience as well as vast experience working with large data-sets and computing systems such as Hadoop.

- Experience with strategic planning using quantitative techniques.

- Minimum 5+ years' experience of leading and managing a team.

- Experience in applying advanced AI techniques (e.g., machine learning, predictive analytics. optimization, semantic analysis, time-series analysis, advanced visualization) to real-world problems

- High-level experience in database engineering systems, methodologies, and processes for managing large scale databases like Oracle, Postgres, MSSQL, etc.

- Must have experience in statistical programming languages, such as Python, R, Scala, and SAS along working experience in Unix/Linux environment.

- Excellent quantitative skills and the ability to tell a story using data.

- Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development

- High-level mathematical ability and logical approach

- Strong written & verbal communication and presentation skills

- Ability to initiate and drive projects from conception to completion with minimal guidance.

- Needs to be result-orientated but collaborative in management style.
