Product Design Engineer

Product Designer
to own the end-to-end design of our hardware and software products, ensuring they're not only technically world-class but also intuitively usable and aesthetically distinctive.

Role Overview

As our Product Designer, you will partner with optical engineers, mechanical teams, software developers, and business stakeholders to craft holistic product experiences. You'll shape everything from industrial enclosures, user-facing control panels, and ergonomics, to the look, feel, and workflow of our GUIs and web dashboards—always grounded in customer needs and real-world operating environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Hardware & Industrial Design
• Conceptualize and refine enclosures, mounts, and form-factors for imaging payloads (ground, aerial, space)
• Create CAD models, prototypes, and 3D renderings; collaborate on materials selection, manufacturing methods, and tolerance budgets
• Ensure designs meet environmental, thermal, EMI/EMC, and weight constraints typical of drone and satellite platforms
• UI/UX & Interaction Design
• Develop wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes for desktop and embedded GUIs (Qt, web dashboards)
• Define user flows, information architecture, and visual style guides aligned with our brand and domain conventions
• Conduct usability studies, gather feedback from field engineers and end users, and iterate rapidly
• Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work closely with optics, mechanical, electronics, and software teams to translate technical requirements into cohesive product designs
• Facilitate workshops with sales, support, and customers to uncover pain points, feature priorities, and usage patterns
• Coordinate with suppliers, rapid-prototyping shops, and contract manufacturers to validate designs and manage revisions
• Brand & Differentiation
• Establish and evolve a distinct visual language and industrial aesthetic across all product lines
• Stay abreast of industry design trends (aerospace, defense, industrial vision) and best practices for user-centered design
• Champion design reviews, maintain a component library, and document guidelines to ensure consistency and scalability

What You'll Bring

Required (Fresher/2-3 years experience)

• Bachelor's or Master's in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or equivalent
• Proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks, Fusion 360) and prototyping methods (3D printing, CNC, sheet metal)
• Strong UI/UX toolkit: Sketch/Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and prototyping platforms (InVision, Framer, Qt Designer)
• Demonstrated portfolio of physical products and digital interfaces, ideally in imaging, instrumentation, or robotics
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, DFM/DFX principles, and design for harsh environments
• Experience conducting user research, surveys, and usability testing; ability to translate insights into design decisions
• Excellent communication skills, comfortable presenting design concepts to technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred (will set you apart)

• Exposure to aerospace or defense industry standards (MIL-STD, DO-160, IP ratings)
• Familiarity with embedded UI toolkits (Qt/QML, Electron) and basic front-end web technologies (HTML/CSS/JS)
• Knowledge of optical payload constraints (thermal management, vibration, weight budgets)
• Experience with design systems, component libraries, and version control for design assets
• Prior work on space-qualified hardware, drone/gimbal ergonomics, or scientific instrumentation
