Role Summary:

The Motor Design Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, prototyping, and fabricating a custom BLDC motor  optimized for size, biocompatibility, and performance. The ideal candidate will have expertise in electromechanical systems, advanced motor design, and medical-grade manufacturing, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.


Key Responsibilities:

Motor Design:

Design a high-efficiency, compact BLDC motor for integration into medical devices.

Develop specifications for motor performance, including torque, speed, power, and thermal management.

Optimize the motor for low noise, high reliability, and biocompatibility.

Material and Component Selection:

Select appropriate materials for windings, shaft, and housing to meet medical-grade standards.

Ensure all components are compatible with sterilization processes and hemocompatibility requirements.

Prototyping and Fabrication:

Lead the fabrication of prototypes using precision manufacturing techniques.

Collaborate with internal and external teams for custom part machining and assembly.

Testing and Validation:

Conduct performance testing, including speed, torque, and efficiency measurements.

Perform reliability and fatigue testing under physiological conditions.

Ensure compliance with ISO 13485 and IEC 60601 standards for medical devices.

Collaboration:

Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and biomedical engineers to integrate the motor into the system.

Partner with suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless production scalability.


Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

5+ years of experience  in designing and fabricating BLDC motors, preferably for medical or micro-scale applications.

Proficiency in motor design software  such as ANSYS Maxwell, JMAG, or similar tools.

Strong knowledge of electromechanical principles, including electromagnetic design, thermal analysis, and material properties.

Hands-on experience with precision machining, assembly, and prototyping techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in designing motors for Class III medical devices or implantable devices.

Familiarity with biocompatible materials and coatings (e.g., Parylene, Titanium, or medical-grade stainless steel).

Knowledge of regulatory standards (ISO 10993, IEC 60601, ISO 13485).

Strong project management and documentation skills.

Key Skills:

Expertise in BLDC motor design (winding configurations, stator/rotor design, and magnet selection).

Proficiency in CAD/CAE tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo).

Advanced problem-solving skills in thermal and vibration analysis.

Strong understanding of manufacturing techniques for miniaturized components.
