We’re a new, dedicated startup focused on designing and manufacturing assistive technology products tailored for children with special needs, including autism.Our product lineup includes sensory tools, interactive switch-adapted toys and IOT devices,  that empower and support children in reaching their fullest potential.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a passionate and skilled Electronics Engineer to join our team. You will work on developing interactive devices using technologies like Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, and other microcontrollers. This role is ideal for someone with experience in electronics and programming, especially in designing low-power, interactive devices that respond to sensory and switch inputs. Knowledge of LED control and integration with microcontrollers to create engaging visual feedback and sensory effects is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and prototype switch-adapted devices and toys that respond to sensory needs and support children with autism and other disabilities.
  • Utilize Arduino, ESP32, and other microcontrollers to build adaptive and interactive products.
  • Collaborate with our design team to create products with high usability and durability.
  • Test and troubleshoot prototypes to ensure functionality, durability, and safety standards.
  • Document and iterate designs based on feedback from therapists and families.
  • Stay updated on new trends and technologies in assistive and adaptive devices for special needs.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Advanced certifications or coursework in embedded systems,and microcontroller programming.
  • Experience:
  • Industry Experience: practical experience in electronics engineering..
  • Prototyping & Production: Familiarity with prototyping, product lifecycle, and small-batch production; ability to scale designs from prototype to mass manufacturing is a plus.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Microcontrollers: Hands-on experience with microcontrollers like Arduino, ESP32, or similar, with a strong understanding of power management, input/output control, and sensor integration.
  • Programming Languages: Proficiency in C/C++ and Python for embedded systems; experience with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and other communication protocols is advantageous.
  • Circuit Design & PCB Layout: Skilled in circuit design, schematic capture, and PCB layout using tools like Altium Designer, Eagle, or KiCad.
  • Sensor Integration: Knowledge of various types of sensors (e.g., pressure, proximity, touch, and sound sensors) and their applications in interactive devices.
  • Low-Power Electronics: Expertise in designing low-power circuits suitable for battery-operated devices.
  • Hardware-Software Integration: Experience in interfacing hardware with software applications for interactive functionality, especially in embedded environments.
  • 3D Modeling & Prototyping (Desirable): Familiarity with 3D modeling software like SolidWorks or Fusion 360 for housing design and prototype development.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance:
  • Troubleshooting & Debugging: Strong skills in debugging and problem-solving for electronic circuits, sensors, and code.
  • Prototype Testing: Experience with iterative testing and user feedback, especially involving therapists, educators, or families to optimize product usability and effectiveness.
  • Compliance: Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements, especially for devices used by children and for individuals with disabilities.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Detail-Oriented: Precision in both design and testing phases, ensuring reliability and safety in all products.
  • Collaborative Team Player: Ability to work closely with other team members, including product designers and child development specialists.
  • Empathy & Mission-Driven Mindset: A genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of children with special needs, coupled with patience and dedication to designing innovative solutions.
  • Additional Experience (Bonus):
  • Machine Learning/AI: Familiarity with machine learning or simple AI for assistive technologies.
  • Product Lifecycle Knowledge: Experience with design-for-manufacturing (DFM) practices and quality assurance for scalability.
  • Community Involvement: Past involvement with organizations or projects focusing on special needs or assistive technology would be highly valued.
