Technology Lead


This role of Technology Lead offers an exciting opportunity for a dynamic leader. The ideal candidate will be developing the technical infrastructure of the business and leading the product and development teams. The Tech Lead is responsible for the deployment and maintenance of the application front end, back-office integration, and API connectivity to our various 3rd party partners. The role demands a high degree of autonomy and decision-making authority, typical of a vibrant start-up environment. It's suited for someone who thrives in agile settings and is prepared to occasionally step outside their standard role to contribute to the company's growth.


Skills:


  • Technical Leadership: Build the technical infrastructure of the business, delegating responsibilities between a team of 6 contracted developers.
  • Product Leadership: Define the product feature prioritisation and design philosophy in order to address user experience gaps and user journey bottlenecks while working closely with the CEO and Executive Director - Operations.
  • Customer Success Monitoring: Focus on improving key performance indicators such as reducing abandonment rates, increasing funding rates and trading volumes, and improving conversion rates.
  • Vendor Management: Recommend and establish vendor relationships in tandem with our Executive Director of Operations based on the technology needs of the organisation.
  • Value Communication: Clearly articulate and demonstrate the benefits of product feature implementations and design solutions to the board.

Definition of MVP - Improve and launch a Sharia-compliant stock and currency brokerage platform.


Core features and User Stories

  1. Signup and registration - As a user, I want to sign up friction-free so that I can open an account
  2. Search and find Stock - As a user, I would like to learn more about the stocks available on so that I can pick the right one to invest in
  3. Deposit and Trade - As a user, I would like to fund my account quickly so that I can successfully buy my desired stocks and shares
  4. Sell and withdrawal - As a user, I would like to sell a stock and withdraw my funds to a bank account in my name so I can spend my money in the real world
  5. Security and manage account - As a user, I would like reassurance that my money and information is secure and that I can access my account and money 24/7


The five features above provide a core foundation to build on top of, but more importantly, it simplifies the app for regulators and initial users. Our main goal with the first version of the product is that all the above user stories can be completed with little to no friction .


We are consuming multiple APIs from various third-party providers. These providers have standing agreements with us and are being integrated by our development team of 5 engineers which you are expected to manage. We will be expanding the development team and you will also be required to help hire 2 junior developers.


The alpha version of the product is ready and all the user stories have been development to a functional level already. The successful candidate is expected to build upon the previous work to complete the MVP and have a ready for market product.
