Desired Competencies:
Policy and Compliance:1. Understanding of state policies of the region (Experience on State Excise and commercial taxes policy will be an advantage) with ability to relate the application of laws in commercial and manufacturing businesses.2. Facilitate Licensing and operational support on regulatory engagement matters of the sales, manufacturing functions, supply chain etc.3. Present linkages of best practices to Govt. related to industry pricing, taxation and ease of doing business as core to industry sustenance.
Stakeholder Management:1. Build reputation and relationship with key stakeholders with high level of integrity and business insights.2. Lead in creating position papers on best practices, regulatory engagement, and reputation enhancement3. Work closely with Cross functional team in leading external engagement and coordination.4. Network with key functionaries in the respective state Governments like Excise , Public sector undertaking in wholesale trade, Commercial Taxes, Legal Metrology, FSSAI, Commerce & Industry, Fire & Safety & Pollution Control Board, Irrigation, Health and govt dispensation in general.5. Build effective ties and understanding of the market dynamics both at wholesale and Retail trade.
Operational and Strategic priorities:1. Create opportunities within the regulatory framework to address trade and tax barriers, securing sensible and sustainable regulatory outcomes2. Position company as Thought leader on Alco-bev policies within government, key regulators, Industry associations, Think tanks, NGOs and other stakeholders.3. Work with policy makers to leverage the Make in India initiative and Ease of Doing Business parameters.
Industry Advocacy:1. Lead engagements of Industry Associations including providing inputs and direction to industry issues, policy development etc.2.
Participate in industry initiatives in creating a level playing field for brands and businesses3. Support digitization initiatives and reforms in licensing and taxation regime.
Desired Qualification and experience :
Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in the fields of Business Management, Public Policy, Political Science, PR, Communications/Journalism ideal.
Strategic thinker and problem solver to lead advocacy work.Minimum of 10-15-years’ experience in corporate relations, regulatory affairs and having successfully held public policy and/or government relations roles in previous work experience with state govt(s)Adept at building and expanding credible relationship with stakeholders in senior position in the respective govt(s).Has led engagements of Industry Associations including providing inputs and direction to industry issues, policy development etc.Be able to take initiatives and present regulatory recommendations led to policy framework .Experienced at working independently, is agile, and able to influence other internal and external stakeholders to align with regulatory driven goals.Resilient and able to successfully navigate ambiguity and demonstrate understanding of complex policy issues and environment.Experience in working in highly regulated industries is ideal but not a pre-requisite.
