About the Role:

Albertsons is seeking a Director of Security Engineering to establish and lead our Security Engineering operations in India. This role will be pivotal in shaping our security engineering strategy, driving operational excellence, and building a high-performing team. The initial focus will be on the?creation and development of a network security function, with a broader mandate to scale security engineering capabilities in the region.

The ideal candidate is a technical leader with a strong background in security engineering, experience in network security operations, and a track record of building and managing globally distributed teams. This role will require close collaboration with security, IT, and engineering teams across multiple geographies to enhance the companys security posture.

Key Responsibilities:

Establish and Lead Security Engineering Operations:

• Build, manage, and scale a security engineering team, ensuring alignment with global security objectives.
• Develop a roadmap for security engineering operations, starting with network security and expanding to other security domains.

Network Security Function Development:

• Design and implement network security controls, segmentation strategies, and perimeter defenses.
• Work with infrastructure and networking teams to ensure secure network architecture and operations.
• Evaluate and deploy network security tools (firewalls, IDS/IPS, DDoS protection, network traffic monitoring, etc.).

Security Engineering Leadership & Strategy:

• Drive security automation and the adoption of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) principles for security controls.
• Partner with software engineering, DevOps, and IT teams to embed security into cloud, container, and on-premises environments.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry security standards.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement:

• Develop KPIs and metrics to measure and improve security effectiveness.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers across multiple security disciplines.
• Build and maintain relationships with?cross-functional teams and global security leadership.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• 12+ years of experience in security engineering, with at least 5+ years in a leadership role.
• Proven experience in network security, including firewalls, segmentation, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and cloud network security.
• Experience building and managing distributed security teams, ideally in a global enterprise.
• Strong understanding of cloud security architectures (Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud).
• Hands-on experience with security automation, Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible), and CI/CD security integration.
• Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance requirements (ISO 27001, NIST, SOC2, etc.).
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to drive security initiatives in fast-paced environments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Zero Trust Architecture and microsegmentation.
• Familiarity with XDR, SOAR, and Threat Intelligence platforms.
• Prior experience working with?security teams across different time zones.
• Industry certifications (e.g.,C ISSP, CCSP, CISM, GIAC).
