In this role, you’ll be a crucial member of our tech team, ensuring that our PostgreSQL database systems are secure, optimized, and scalable to meet current and future demands.Position Overview:As a Senior DBA, you’ll manage the design, implementation, maintenance, and performance of our PostgreSQL database systems. Your expertise in PostgreSQL will ensure stability, security, and scalability, driving the success of our data infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:Database Design and Implementation:Work with engineers and architects to create efficient PostgreSQL database solutions tailored to our organizational needs and future growth.Performance Optimization:Proactively monitor and tune database performance for optimal response times and resource utilization, addressing bottlenecks to maintain high availability.Security and Compliance:Implement security best practices to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with industry standards. Handle access controls, data encryption, and regular backups for data integrity.Monitoring and Maintenance:Oversee the health and availability of the PostgreSQL environment, conducting regular backups, software upgrades, and patching.Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:Investigate and resolve database-related issues, perform root cause analysis, and suggest solutions to prevent recurrence.Capacity Planning and Scaling:Forecast growth and scale database infrastructure based on business demands.Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:Maintain thorough documentation of database configurations and processes. Share expertise with team members to promote a collaborative environment.Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity:Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans to ensure data availability during unexpected events.Automation:Automate tasks like backups, monitoring, and deployments to improve efficiency.
Requirements:Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.5+ years of PostgreSQL-focused DBA experience in large-scale, complex environments.Technical Skills:Expertise in PostgreSQL management, SQL, and PL/pgSQL scripting.Familiarity with database backup and recovery strategies, clustering, replication, and high availability setups.Strong security practices knowledge.Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills:Proficiency in diagnosing complex database issues and optimizing performance.Critical thinking for assessing and enhancing database performance.Communication and Collaboration:Strong communication skills, able to interact with cross-functional teams and explain technical concepts clearly.Team-oriented with proven collaboration skills.Adaptability and Continuous Learning:Eagerness to adapt to new technologies and industry trends.Commitment to staying current with PostgreSQL advancements.If you’re a proactive, skilled database professional looking to shape our data infrastructure, we invite you to apply for this role.
