JOAN Digitech is seeking a highly motivated User Experience (UX) Developer. The UX Developer will help bring the goals and objectives of our projects to life. They should be comfortable working strategically and tactically, balancing big picture thinking with impeccable attention to detail.

The ideal candidate should excel in building highly creative ideas born from an understanding of user needs and the ability to bring those ideas to life with great UX, UI, and visual design skills. A thorough understanding of contemporary user centred design methodologies and mobile web design experience is a must.

This is a position which requires strong ecommerce development skills particularly in Shopify and WordPress. Hence, the successful candidate will be comfortable programming on Shopify and WordPress platforms. This means that you should have development experience, in depth understanding, and distinct perspectives of all things to specialise in all the Shopify and WordPress projects.

Likewise, the candidate should be able to create a bespoke development strategy using existing Shopify and WordPress templates. Besides that, you must also know how to convert mockups, design styles, page diagrams and specifications into complete functional solutions.

The candidate should have a technical know-how of updating and modifying existing websites to enhance the UX/UI design or add new features. This is in addition to knowing how to test and develop 3rd party Shopify apps to customise and create Shopify accounts that integrate with websites built on third party platforms and themes including WordPress.

Responsibilities

The Digital Experience Manager Web/UX will be responsible for supporting the ongoing delivery and growth for clients.

The primary responsibilities of the position includes:

- Creating engaging and knowledgeable Shopify and WordPress stores to drive revenue and sales.- Developing bespoke themes and customising pre-existing templates according to company guidelines.- Collaborating with client UI and UX design teams to create innovative and unique user experiences.- Ensuring seamless integration with Shopify Apps, Marketing Tools, and Platform APIs.- Regularly debugging and testing websites to optimise performance.- Providing coordination and technical support to mitigate potential issues.- Improving conversion rates through website optimization strategies.- Make knowledgeable and engaging Shopify and WordPress stores online to increase revenue and sales.- Proficient in all aspects of the Ecommerce platform, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding and expertise across various areas.- Offer coordination and technical support to protect the company against failure.

Mobile Optimization

- Ensuring the website is fully responsive and provides a seamless experience across all devices and screen sizes.- Conducting usability testing specifically on mobile devices to identify and resolve any mobile-specific issues.

Accessibility Compliance

- Conducting regular checks to ensure the website meets accessibility standards such as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).- Staying updated on accessibility regulations and ensuring the website remains compliant with them.

Conducting User Research and Testing

- Conducting in-depth conversations with users to understand their needs, preferences, and pain points.- Distributing surveys to gather quantitative data on user satisfaction, behaviour, and preferences.- Observing users as they interact with the website to identify usability issues and gather feedback.

Risk Management

- Applying Agile methodologies to manage web development projects, ensuring timely delivery and adaptability to changes.- Identifying potential risks and developing strategies to mitigate them, ensuring project continuity.

Client Journey Mapping

- Creating visual maps of the client journey to highlight key touchpoints and user interactions.- Identifying pain points in the client’s journey and developing strategies to address them.- Implementing changes to streamline the customer journey and enhance user satisfaction.

Personalization and Customization

- Segmenting users based on behaviour, preferences, and demographics to deliver personalised experiences.- Using dynamic content to display relevant information to users based on their interactions and preferences.- Implementing recommendation engines to suggest products or content tailored to individual users.

Stakeholder Communication

- Providing regular updates to internal stakeholders on project progress, performance metrics, and upcoming initiatives.- Establishing a feedback loop with stakeholders to gather input and make informed decisions.

Technical skills

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.- Expertise in website maintenance, launches, shop construction, and a thorough understanding of admin systems.- Experience of 3-5 years is required.- Proficient in JavaScript, DOM, CSS3, and HTML5.- Experienced with Storefront API and custom theme development.- Skilled in liquid templating and Shopify's theming systems.- Proven experience in debugging and implementing third-party Shopify applications and creating unique solutions when necessary.- Proficiency in jQuery, modern JavaScript frameworks, vanilla JavaScript, and ES2015/ES6.- Familiar with Shopify properties/objects, Meta fields, and AJAX API.- Strong debugging and testing skills using browser console and other tools.- Background in WordPress website development.- Capable of providing proactive feedback and effectively interacting with client teams.- Knowledgeable in integrating third-party APIs and services, as well as using Shopify plugins.- Experienced in creating responsive and unique layouts for various device types.- Understanding of site performance and its significance for SEO.
