Role Overview
The Import Export Executive plays a pivotal role in managing international trade operations, ensuring smooth logistics, and maintaining full compliance with customs and regulatory standards. This position requires meticulous attention to documentation, coordination with stakeholders, and an understanding of commodity movement, especially non-ferrous metals.
Key Responsibilities
Documentation & Compliance
Prepare and verify shipping, customs, and regulatory documents (e.g., Bill of Lading, Packing Lists, Import Licenses)
Ensure adherence to DGFT, customs, and pollution control norms
Coordination & Communication
Liaise with suppliers, freight forwarders, CHA (Customs House Agents), and regulatory authorities
Manage day-to-day communication with ports, logistics partners, and government departments
Logistics & Scheduling
Track shipments, ensure timely clearance, and coordinate internal delivery schedules
Optimize container planning and inventory movements for incoming and outgoing goods
Vendor & Port Interaction
Negotiate freight rates and terms with transporters and forwarding agents
Monitor port charges, demurrage risks, and warehouse costs
MIS & Reporting
Maintain detailed records of transactions, tariffs, duties, and clearance timelines
- Generate periodic reports for internal audits and management review
Qualifications & Skills
Requirements Details
Education
Graduate in Commerce / Business / International Trade (MBA preferred)
Experience
6-10 years in import-export operations, preferably in metals / recycling / manufacturing sectors
Technical Skills
Knowledge of EXIM documentation, EPCG norms, customs portals, Incoterms
Soft Skills
Detail-oriented, proactive communicator, negotiation finesse, crisis management-Able to lead the team
Preferred Attributes
- Experience handling imports of scrap or secondary raw materials
- Familiarity with international commodity markets and pricing models
