Position : Database Engineer

About Us :

Join our innovative Data Center of Excellence group, a collaborative team dedicated to maintaining database standards, implementing best practices, and ensuring high availability for all transactional database clusters on our cloud platform. As a pivotal member of this dynamic team, you will collaborate with engineering teams across diverse platforms, guiding them in building and optimizing databases to meet project data requirements.

Key Responsibilities :

1) Identify optimal installation solutions for new databases.

2) Engage with application teams to analyze data/database requirements and devise suitable solutions.

3) Collaborate with the Infrastructure team to construct database platforms, manage security patching, and implement best practices.

4) Address P1 and P2 production issues alongside application and platform teams.

5) Work closely with the platform team to enhance database performance, evaluate data storage needs, and explore horizontal/vertical scaling options.

6) Identify areas for improvement in existing database systems and propose enhancements.

7) Develop database solutions for secure storage and retrieval of sensitive information such as PII and PCI.

8) Install and configure information systems to ensure seamless functionality.

9) Analyze structural requirements for new software and applications, ensuring alignment with database capabilities.

10) Implement data migration strategies and ensure efficient, secure data storage practices.

Qualifications :

1) Strong understanding of various RDBMS systems and NoSQL databases.

2) Extensive hands-on experience with Oracle or PostgreSQL DB.

3) Proficient in troubleshooting database queries and optimizing query performance.

4) Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams, including Solution Architects, SysOps, Data Engineers, and Application Development teams.

5) Familiarity with metadata management, data modeling, and related tools (e.g., Erwin, ER Studio).

6) Experience in Cloud DB management is desirable.

7) Knowledge of database management software.

8) Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

9) Ability to articulate and explain database configuration changes to the Infrastructure team.

10) Expertise in implementing data replications, sharding, and high availability solutions.

11) Familiarity with data modeling is advantageous.

12) Experience in team management, communication, and presentation.

13) Ability to simplify complex concepts for effective communication.

14) Strong interpersonal skills.
