Designation: Costing Engineer
Reports to: CFO
Location: Mumbai
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Costing Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and analyzing cost estimates for manufacturing operations, assisting in budget planning, cost control, and profitability analysis. The role requires collaboration with engineering, production, procurement, and finance departments to ensure accurate costing and process efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain standard costing for all products and processes.
- Analyze material, labor, and overhead costs and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Develop and maintain the costing model for all products, including BOMs (Bill of Materials) and routings.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to assess design changes and their impact on cost.
- Perform variance analysis (standard vs actual cost) and recommend corrective actions.
- Support the new product development (NPD) process by providing cost inputs at the design and prototyping stages.
- Evaluate supplier quotations and compare with internal cost benchmarks.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual cost reports for management.
- Assist in inventory valuation, cost audits, and financial planning activities.
- Monitor manufacturing efficiency and help identify opportunities for process optimization.

Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in cost engineering or cost analysis in a manufacturing setup.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, BOMs, and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
- Proficient in MS Excel, costing software, and data analysis tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines.
Preferred:
- Experience in (industry-specific experience, e.g., automotive/electronics/plastics).
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, or Six Sigma principles.
- Knowledge of cost accounting or financial analysis is a plus.
Salary: As per industry standards.
