Job descriptionMaterial Scientist -Sports Goods & FootwearLocation: MaduraiCTC: As per market standards and based on the current salaryEducation: Masters degree (M.Sc./M.Tech) in Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, or a related discipline.Role OverviewThis role is responsible for leading the selection, development, and testing of advanced materials to enhance the performance, durability, and sustainability of sports goods and footwear. The position drives innovation by combining scientific expertise with cross-functional collaboration to deliver next-generation products backed by measurable improvements.Key ResponsibilitiesIdentify, test, and develop optimal materials (polymers, composites, metals, textiles, rubber, coatings, leather) for sports equipment and footwear.Establish performance benchmarks and validate improvements through measurable data against current and competitor products.Conduct material testing and analysis (tensile, impact, fatigue, durability, etc.) to ensure reliability and compliance with standards.Collaborate with marketing to integrate consumer insights into material innovation strategies.Partner with design and production teams to translate research into scalable, manufacturable products.Drive innovation initiatives including patents, technical publications, and new product launches.Explore and evaluate sustainable and eco-friendly material options to align with organizational sustainability goals.Engage with suppliers, laboratories, and external collaborators for advanced material sourcing, testing, and validation.Functional competenciesTechnical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of polymers, composites, metals, textiles, rubber, coatings, and leather.Testing & Analysis: Proficiency in advanced material characterization and mechanical testing (tensile, impact, fatigue, abrasion, etc.).Innovation & Problem-Solving: Strong research mindset with the ability to conceptualize and apply novel material solutions.Sustainability Focus: Familiarity with eco-friendly, recyclable, or bio-based material solutions.Job SpecificationsExperience: Proven track record in material research and application within manufacturing, preferably in sports equipment, footwear, or other performance-driven consumer products.Education: Masters degree (M.Sc./M.Tech) in Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, or a related discipline.Background: Demonstrated success in translating material science into commercially viable, performance-enhancing products.Preferred Candidate ProfileHands-on experience in developing high-performance materials for consumer or sports industries.Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with R&D, design, production, and marketing teams.Innovative thinker with the ability to secure IP (patents) and publish technical findings.Exposure to global best practices in material sustainability and eco-innovation.Excellent communication and presentation skills for engaging with internal stakeholders and external partners.If anyone is having experience as per our JD, Pl share your updated resume to
