Job Title: Chief Marketing Officer (CMO)

Location: Delhi

Role Summary

The CMO will lead all strategic marketing, branding, and public engagement efforts across India Post, driving alignment with the Departments transformation goals, digital initiatives, and customer service expansion. The position will be central to:

  • Modernizing the brand
  • Enhancing public trust
  • Expanding customer base
  • Driving digital engagement and citizen outreach
  • Coordination with all 23 Postal Circles for Marketing activities

Justification for CMO Positioning

  1. Rebranding a Legacy Institution: Showcase transformation and modernization to both urban and rural customers.
  2. Strategic Customer Engagement: Compete effectively with private players by leveraging India Posts reach, trust, and affordability.
  3. Maximizing Adoption of New Offerings: Increase usage of digital services, Mail Services, Parcels, POSB, PLI, and logistics.
  4. Leadership for Integrated Communication: Unify marketing efforts across silos and enhance coordination.
  5. Stakeholder & Media Relations: Manage high-level engagements and press/public communication.
  6. Data-Driven Decision Making: Institutionalize analytics to inform service design and campaign strategy.
  7. Revenue Growth through Positioning: Boost commercial success through well-targeted messaging.
  8. Capacity Building: Establish a strong marketing culture within DoP.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Marketing

  • Develop and implement an integrated marketing strategy
  • Align branding efforts with the Departments mission
  • Oversee promotion of key services (logistics, banking, insurance, e-commerce)

Digital & Traditional Media Outreach

  • Lead multi-channel campaigns across print, TV, radio, social media, and digital platforms
  • Ensure culturally relevant, inclusive messaging for urban and rural audiences

Public Relations & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Represent the Department in media interactions, events, and press briefings
  • Build communication frameworks for partnerships and inter-governmental coordination

Customer Experience

  • Improve customer journey across all touchpointsphysical, web, and mobile
  • Launch feedback systems and user satisfaction programs

Data & Insights

  • Institutionalize data-backed campaign planning and evaluation
  • Monitor KPIs and reporting for ongoing optimization

Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor the marketing team
  • Collaborate across verticals and support capacity building

Qualifications & Experience

  • Essential: Masters Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or Public Policy
  • Experience: 1520 years in marketing, including 10+ years in a leadership role
  • Preferred: Experience in public sector, logistics, telecom, or banking; familiarity with rural marketing
