We are looking for a Principal Member of Technical Staff to join the athenahealth quality architecture team. At the cutting edge of the healthcare market’s shift towards value-based care, the Quality reporting sub-division works with an industry leading client base to deliver capabilities to enable patient-centric care, from Population Analytics. You will provide technical leadership to a team of talented engineers who are transforming healthcare data into actionable insights that empower clinicians, researchers, and administrators to deliver better care.The Team“athenaClinicals – the clinicals team builds code that matters, working on the beating heart of doctors’ workflows that is used by over 100,000+ healthcare providers daily. We build the interface that makes the interactions between these providers and the electronic health record as seamless as possible, and elevates what the doctor needs to see, when they need to see it. This team is innovative, passionate, and driven by our mission to help make an impact.ResponsibilitiesArchitect for multiple teams who will help us to implement our multiyear tech modernization journey for quality zone using Domain Driven design decomposition principles.Work on modern Architecture for new analytics experiences using modern front-end tooling.Ability to work independently and take decisions from long term strategic perspective and not to be distracted by the immediate short-term needs.Collaborate inclusively with cross-functional team members to develop product solutions and promote productivity and effectiveness.Mentor and advise engineer team members; take ownership of what the team builds and coordinate efforts to ensure proper completion.Develop knowledge to act as a domain expert; share business and technical insights with the broader engineering and product organization.Processing and transforming large volumes of complex healthcare data.Clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Collaborate effectively with User experience, product analysts, engineers, and business leaders to translate requirements into actionable solutions.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experienceIdeally, 15+ years of software engineering experience with product development expertiseExtensive experience in distributed application development with focus on the backend technologies (eg.. microservices, scaling and Observability)Extensive experience in AWS cloud (ECS,EKS,MSK,DynamoDB,Keyspaces)Ability to write code mostly in Java. Create a production quality code, that is technically sound, performant, scalable, and readable.Experience in leading teams/technical projects including technical design, scoping and estimation.Experience with deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using Jenkins along with git, bitbucket and other source code repositories preferred.Familiarity with healthcare data standards and regulations (e.g. HIPAA, HL7)Exceptional leadership and communication skills, inspiring and motivating others to achieve goals.Proven track record of implementing and driving adoption of new data technologies and methodologies.About athenahealthHere’s ourvision:
