JOB PURPOSE:
- To act as management representative who is accountable for ensuring that the Occupational Health Safety Policy & Systems are developed, implemented and maintained BIAL and it's subsidiaries.(BASL and BACL)
- Advise on various Occupation Health Safety related topics and report safety performance measurements along with recommendations to Head Group Safety.
- Area of safety covering ISO 45001, Food Safety, Passenger Safety, Construction Safety, Building Safety, Road Safety & Legal compliance.
- Scope would encompass Organizing, Planning, Measuring, Audit and Review.
- Lead the team of OHS professionals to achieve organizational objectives. To ensure that all people working in KIAB are trained as appropriate on occupational and health safety aspects.
Implementation of Health & Occupational Safety systems:
- Ensure that Occupational Health Safety standards are applied across the organization (Landside, Terminal, Airside, etc) including all the stakeholders & customers.
- Lead the OHS department of BIAL to achieve organizational vision on safety.
- Establish a process to achieve and sustain ISO 45001 by creating adequate documentations and ensuring application of HIRA in each department.
- Ensure Food Safety, Passenger Safety, Construction Safety, Building Safety and Road safety by implementing relevant regulations in each field.
- Build strong rapport between various OHS branches within the BIAL ecosystem such as Projects, BACL, BASL, other stakeholders etc
- Prepare, maintain and review a list of all relevant legislation and other requirements pertinent to the Occupational health safety aspects of the organization. Strive to meet all such legislation and escalate the critical non-compliances.
- Ensure documents required in support of the Occupational Health Safety are issued to all concerned and are followed in true spirit.
- Ensure operational safety by identifying hazards arising in or from the workplace and the assessment /control of the associated risks that could impact overall safety.
- Carryout Risk assessments on Health and occupational Safety aspects as per international standards and preventive measures are enforced.
- Coordinate & facilitate external (ILO-OSH 2001, ISO, BSI, etc.) audits on Health & occupational safety. Follow up on all audit observation/non-conformance till closure.
- Improve the implementation of OHS system in the workplace by ensuring integration into business planning and development processes.
- Established procedures on communication of relevant health and occupational safety matters between the various internal levels and functions of the organization.
- Establish procedures for voluntary reporting of matters pertaining to health & occupational safety.
- Ensure that relevant documents are available where required and all such documents remain legible and readily identifiable.
- Review all the MOWPs and daily work permits in view of the Occupational Health and Safety aspects and initiate mitigation measures.
- Ensure OHS principles are applied during the design and procurement stages.
Evaluation of Compliance:
- Ensure Health & Safety legislation and other associated requirements are monitored on a regular basis.
- Monitor the compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and other requirements.
- Ensure that records of this compliance review are compiled & maintained.
- Map the legal requirement with the corresponding departments for proper accountability.
- Collection of legal compliance reports periodically.
- Escalate and strive to mitigate critical non-compliances in the fields of Food Safety, Passenger Safety, Construction Safety, Building Safety and Road safety.
Monitoring:
- Established measures for certain significant health and safety aspects at all relevant functions and levels together with targets and objectives considering any relevant legislative and regulatory or other requirements.
- Ensure that programs are instituted for health and safety objectives defining responsibility and the time frame for achievement of the applicable target.
- Review objectives and targets periodically and amend or update as necessary and appropriate.
- Ensure that all the work at the airport are carried out as per Health & Occupational Safety standards.
- Monitoring all works through MoWP process.
- Conduct safety inspections and internal audits on Food Safety, Passenger Safety, Construction. Safety, Building Safety & Road safety and reports to be created. Follow up on audit observations for closure. Ensure coverage of OHS during non-working hours
Investigation:
- Carry out detailed investigations pertaining to incidents on occupational health and safety.
- Identify the root cause by implementing formal methods of root cause analysis and initiate necessary follow up action to prevent recurrence.
- Communicate the lessons learnt in a de-identified manner to all concerned.
- Ensure Just Culture during investigation and outcomes.
- Apply human factor principles during investigation. Carryout trend analysis of past incidents and provide intelligence to avoid recurrence.
Safety Promotion:
- Ensure that necessary promotional activities on occupational health and safety are carried out on a periodic basis.
- Ensure that the required training on Health & occupational safety are conducted at all levels of the organization.
- Conduct safety workshops such as National Safety Day to impart safety awareness
